Well as a Black female, and a recently retired Flight Attendant with United Airlines, I am deeply sorry about this. I can definitely see this playing out, as some Flight Attendants over exaggerate during a passenger encounter. We are trained to deesculate NOT exaggerate the situation. Shame on Scott Kirby, CEO of UA for not making a statement of apology to the Davis family. I can only imagine what this family is going through right now.
@LarryK-jg6iw3 ай бұрын
Similar incident happened to me many years ago. Don't remember the airline. I (white male) tapped a FA (Asian lady) on her back shoulder (she was turned away from me) and she spun around as if I had sexually assaulted her, saying, "Don't EVER touch me!!" I couldn't believe it. I think she completed whatever my request was (probably a soft drink), but I was careful to not address her for the rest of the flight. I assumed it was a hyper-reaction to hyper-training, i.e. "interference with a flight crew" can legally be as incidental as merely touching a crew member. Is that possible? De-esculation was certainly not on this lady's mind. Fortunately, nothing else came of the incident upon landing. I had even temporarily worked for Frontier one summer as a CSA gate agent and had never heard of anything like this. How often did it "play out" during your service?

@@advicemaster1365 How about YOU paying closer attention? My post was entirely about an incident that happened to ME. And, yes, I was there for that incident. And my inquiry was to a former flight attendant as to whether and to what extent certain aspects of airline crew training could possibly contribute to the over reaction of flight attendants to passenger encounters WHICH SHE STATED SHE HAD PERSONALLY WITNESSED AS A FELLOW CREW MEMBER. Not once did I mention Terrell Davis or render a specific judgement as to what did or did not happened to him. But it is telling that, despite being taken into custody, he was not charged with or booked for any crime, AND that he has received a formal apology from the airline. Do I need to be present at the scene to form reasonable conclusions from those facts? Here's another conclusion. The specialist in "ignorant posts" just might be someone who adopts the moniker of "advicemaster."

@@LarryK-jg6iw Hi Larry, I haven't seen it play out to the extend of a passenger getting arrested. Just like any other customer service profession/job, you have some that really enjoy it, and they're very good at it. Thank you, Terrell Davis for speaking out about this. He and his wife are helping numerous people who have experienced this and/or will continue experiencing this. I've flown dozens of times, and on a few flights, flight attendants (one in each of those few flights) have gaslighted me and intentionally ignored me (but served all other passengers) for basic things like a cup of water. These flight attendants saw an easy target in me and wanted to reflect all their insecurities, their immaturity and their yearn for power/control by intentionally ignoring me and almost wanting me to beg them for basic services which is part of their job anyway. One flight attendant was a small young white girl, another was a large but short brown older lady. It's as if they want to provoke you so that they can "accomplish" something in their day through calling the cops on you. I am a 30-something Asian male with glasses, and I look kind in the face and young and innocent, with a medium-pitched voice, and at times insecure/ignorant people like these few flight attendants have extreme unconscious/conscious bias.

No one was "relaxed" about such a traumatic situation. What they all were, was calm and collected so to not give the FBI more justification for their overreaction. As an educated professional black man, he played it smart for his family in tow. And his wife did the same for their children.

Wow....FBI agents are being tasked to arrest/remove people from planes now??? This is embarrassing to this man and his family all the way around! And for what??? As someone mentioned, they had no idea who he was! His lawyer stated it best! There should be a HUGE lawsuit!

OH MY GOD! This poor man and his family! Infuriating. I had a sassy male flight attendant threaten to have the cops waiting at the gate for me one time because i was flying with my little dog and he was scared and crying as we were landing. He said if i didnt shut him up security would be wating for me.

I am really proud of the Davis family for going around and doing these interviews and raising the awareness and not only bringing their attorney with them so that they can continue to discuss the illegality of what occurred but they can also continue to raise a awareness that other people go through this and it’s not right or fair. So if this means anything to this family, you are making a difference and you are going to an act change. Thank you so much.

The children are permanently scarred. The psychological trauma and fear our Black children endure are not understood. They witnessed a strong Black man being targeted in a calculated and premeditated manner. The flight attendant probably scrutinized the flight manifest and seating arrangement to identify (target) him, resulting in a gross overreaction and causing the children lasting psychological harm and PTSD. Abuse of power! I'm almost certain that if they examine the flight attendant's cell phone data, they'll find that he not only Googled Mr. Davis but also his net worth. “Man-Karen’s” do exist. So….United who? Never flying them again.

We need cameras in order to get the full story. Non of us here know exactly what happened and we are hearing only one side of the story. Is he a full victim or did he participate in a back and forth argument with the flight attendant? Flight attendants need to do so much in little time and ensure everything is ready for immediate take off. Can we get the flight attendant's side of the story please?

Take notes from the "Atlanta" episode regarding the same. The Danny Glover character wont let it go after an airline worker humiliates his family so cavalierly. The character methodically unravels the flight attendant's life.

So these police officers have nothing better to do than take time off to come on a plane and arrest someone for tapping. Crazy I find in recent times these hostess have to much of nasty attitudes. It’s like they are allowed to do what they want
@kylebrister76082 ай бұрын
The police have to address the situation once the airline instructs them of an unruly passenger on board a flight. The down side of this is the airlines have a no fly rule which they can enforce against anyone who is deemed unruly from ever letting them fly again on a commercial airline.
@JayRay99993 ай бұрын
Poor treatment of passengers has got to STOP! This flight attendant LIED. United is the airline that dragged the Doctor off of the flight because they needed his seat! They defamed him. They also ruined his life. He was severely injured. United also killed Coquito the dog. They made the family put the dog IN THE OVERHEAD BIN! The family paid extra for the dog to be on the flight. The family obeyed the flight attendant; they didn't speak up! What is wrong with this company!!

I recently had issues with United Airlines. I flew from Greece into DC, with connecting flight to Tampa in business class, as I approach the gate for zone one boarding. The attendant at the gate kept asking me if I was zone one. I showed her my boarding pass, she now covered up the scanner with hand, not letting letting me scan the bar code, then covered her mouth with her hand and asked the guy behind her if he should scan me through.

I was on the fence until I heard it was a male flight attendant. The airline needs to correct Tinkerbell. By the way, the passenger being a football player is not really germain to the discussion. No one should be subjected to that type of overreaction from an employee who chooses to work with the public.
