As he just said, if the US wants to keep its role of the superpower, it has to have allies (Finland has helped Ukraine a lot because it understands it's better to keep Russia weak and focus on China than having 2 strong nations against it. It's also a warning sign to China). Some people don't realize the benefits for the US (it has a large buffer which means it costs less to defend the nation) + Who wins almost all deals in NATO? The area that is now Finland was settled in by the Finns, at the latest, around 8,500 BC during the Stone Age towards the end of the last glacial period. Finnish language is currently one of the oldest languages still spoken (Its origins can be traced back to 1500-1000 BC) and you're talking about 108 year period when Finland was part of the Russian empire. Did you know the western Russia was populated (much longer) by the Finnish tribes?. With your logic, Russia forgot its western parts were ruled by the Finns (also the Swedish people)? She sold the NATO idea to Finnish social democrats in a speech to the party in 2022; the first time ever I have heard a leftist to criticize Russia in a very straight forward and hard way. She then went on to visit Sweden in her black leather jacket and sold the idea to Swedish social democrats. Of course she did not decide anything, but was a rare spokesperson for joining NATO. It would have been a difficult task for a conservative, as the left in both Finland and Sweden traditionally have strongly opposed joining. It took Marin to get the message through.
