She is a helluva a lot smarter than I would have imagined. I'm tempted to use the word prodigy, except she obviously is smart enough to have manufactured this persona on her own which means it's all calculated. That's genius and requires massive effort, even for a prodigy. Impressive at any age, much less 24 years old.

+ann landers It's banal comments like yours that make me wish I never scrolled down to the commentary in search for something positive or at the very least, insightful. First off, Madonna's career is older than Gaga's existence - sans exaggeration. Madonna's lengthy list of record breaking accomplishments bury that of her successors, which is simple & researchable fact - not opinion. Madonna came at a time when it wasn't very easy to be respected as a woman doing "unladylike" things, so she was often mentioned alongside brilliant male artists like Michael Jackson & Prince (though, in popular opinion, perhaps not as talented, still however, seen, mentioned & compared alongside such company). A plethora of female artists credit Madonna as the predecessor who "paved the way" for female pop-artists, and the emulation is quite apparent to that of even the most undiscerning eye. Lady Gaga herself mentions Madonna as a major influence. No need to pit these two together. It's just all digital dance music anyway ... same category of synthetic beeps and bad vocals. Don't let fanaticism feed you any illusions about that. We're not talking Mozart ... we're not even talking Led Zeppelin. Personally, I love both of these fire-sign Italian girls, and when I'm feeling like an egotistical & shallow prick, blasting either lady (Madonna or Gaga) will do.

When now, you consider all that she's brought to the entertainment world; yes, she's studied the 'art' of fame and, drawn from many famous artists before but, in the end... if you can't understand or see, how fabulously talented she is, not just in her music, but in her total command of all the aspects of her art then, you're blind... Little wonder, her fan base far exceeds most of the top artists today and, from the last decade... This is an old interview/expose' and, we all know she just got better and, better at what she does afterwards... Some friends and, I were talking and, some wondered why she's taken a long time off from performing but, given the intense exposure, countless ongoing world-wide performances, and living under a media microscope; can anyone really blame her for taking a quietus from it all...??? @@sallydeb "She's masked and she's open" is such a smart way to describe her. It reminds me of when the singer Sia, several years back, attempted to "conceal" her face with giant Lady Gaga-style wigs and costumes allegedly to conserve her identity? That idea ultimately failed because it just made everyone want to Google search her face, drawing 10x more attention to the thing she claimed to be wanting to derail attention from. Same with Billie Eilish, who said that she wore large clothing to draw the attention away from her body.. Now that she recently ended that "mystery" by posting videos of herself in her bra and underpants, I think it's become clear that both of them attempted to do the thing that Gaga has mastered unlike anyone before. We've seen Gaga's bare face and bare body a million different times in a million different ways; wigs or no wigs, make-up or no make-up, yet not a single person knows what Gaga "truly looks like" or who she is behind the aura. She truly is an "enigma" and gets an A+ in understanding the art of fame whereas the other two would get a C- or D at best.

This is so fascinating. She took Madonna's approach to fame and made it into a higher art form. Lady Gaga's shock value is not only avant-garde and artful, it keeps people from peering into her social life. Even today no one I know is interested in Lady Gaga's personal life, because they're so accustomed to Lady Gaga as an art instillation. Seeing her as a normal gal with a boyfriend becomes very unbelievable and uninteresting to the tabloids.

I respect Lady Gaga, she is one of very few celebrities that actually haven been professional all the way through. I don't know how much furthur she can go with the whole Fame/Born this Way theme, but you never know.

i dont care what anyone says she represents everything i stand for and believe in life, she is beautiful, intellectual and talented, her voice is flawless and i love her music, and for those of you out there who criticized her x factor u.k performance should listen to what she has to say, as for the performance, i understood were she was going with it and i love her, also i cant wait for her album to come out this month as i will be first in line to get it.

I love Lady Gaga but I bust out laughing when the girl rejected her to come in. Gaga was just like shocked "oh okay..." I would be too! Who the fuck rejects LADY FUCKING GAGA.

she's so smart. every move she makes has a purpose, the judas song, the alejandro custume, everything keep people talking, getting her more famous day by day. I love you Gags

yea i definitely think there's no denying it...she's extremely talented. she's smart to play the piano live like that because it sets her apart from the other pop stars who don't know how to play instruments, and just have their record label hire producers and songwriters to do all the musical work.

Haters are gonna hate no matter how true she can get. Shes honest and brave enough to tell everyone the truth that i bet most singers would never ever do.

i kinda miss these days when she was like the mystical mysterious enigma and the media were building her up to be this edgy/artistic being that no one really knows anything about.. I feel like these days we know everything about her and she's an open book which is great because it shows how roar she is but at the same time, i wish she'd build up her mystique again

For all those people who say she has no talent, I just want to ask them how she made so much fame with no talent? She's the pure definition of talent. With her voice, with her, clothes, with every fucking this she does she shows her talent. She's a genius and you can't deny it no matter how much you try.

She is very talented & when it comes down to it, she's a musician, classically trained both in Piano & vocally, as well as a song writer. After meeting her I can honestly say that she's very genuine, & also very loving,I don't know that I've met a more loving person, she 100% believes what she says & does as she says, she's also very intelligent. She's worked very hard to become where she's at,she has a solid work ethic, &has according to her friend Lady Starlight who I also met "has not changed".

Wow that’s genius that she made Lady Gaga and those outrageous outifits in order to drive their attention to her image and artistry and not to who she is personally. Just look at Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and all other pop artists who lost their privacy and pretty much their lovelife have been on the talks by the media.

I miss Lady Gaga's old face. She looked so unique and distinctive in this interview. It's too bad that she caved to the pressures of looking a certain way. She's so talented, she didn't need to get any cosmetic procedures done.

Lady Gaga could sit at her piano wearing clothes from Walmart with no backing band, and she'd STILL be a huge success. Like Bowie, underneath the regalia, she is pure talent.
