@tuna that's so true! Very accurate, it is insane to think about the way our minds perceive our lives when our mental health is declining and ive always found comfort in listening to Lady Gaga talk about her depression and mental health. If she can feel badly about herself even though i think she is a Goddess, then i shouldn't believe the negativity that clouds my mind

As a victim of human trafficking I appreciate Gaga speaking on this. I was raped and sold from the ages of 13-16 and it mentally hurts me daily. And her talking about objectification resonates with me so well cause at first I thought that’s what I needed to survive and now it’s what triggers me

All these young people who want to be famous superstars have no idea how much it will ruin their lives. For someone like Gaga, is the money really worth all that she's gone through? A lot of performers end up on drugs, legal or illegal, and have all kinds of mental problems as a result of their careers. Meanwhile, the music industry continues to squeeze the lives out of them to squeeze out every possible penny. For us fans, it's a catch-22, in that we want to support our favorite artists by paying for the music, but by doing so, we're contributing to the toxicity of the business.

listen, but suffering also comes from your perception of what causes you pain and the expectations you have. if you don’t expect it, means you won’t accept it, means it will cause you pain. the moment you turn off your brain from what should be happening and start facing what is happening and accepting it, you will be able to live without suffering traumas. because they won’t be traumas, they will be lessons. you will see through the idea of suffering

I agree.. I many times I think the same way as she expressed. That she is only here for family. However in a way I don't quite understand, I derive a lot of strength from her. Her career has been based in talent first and foremost. Her ability to tap into that well of emotion and make other people feel something exactly what music is about. Secondarily she has been a pillar of strength, bravery, courage, and perseverance for so many. Losing her would really hurt. She has the potential to sway so many people on the edge in the wrong direction. Can't imagine carrying that responsibility on my shoulders. Especially while carrying so much trauma and suffering around. I wish I could take all her pain away and relieve her burden. Help her be as free as her hair..

I remember Trixie and Katya quoting Gaga's "Fame is like a prison" saying that is the most pretentious thing ever but we can never imagine what it really is like to be in her shoes. Her life is one lived in constant isolation for fear of safety. She can't go do normal everyday things we take for granted. If she went out in sweats she'll be front page on tabloids. Strangers will take photos of you and your friends see you as a walking ATM machine. The level of scrutiny and attention these world famous celebs have to endure is something we can never fully imagine. It's all glamorous on paper, but probably a nightmare in real life.

I'm not sure I've ever heard anybody be so honest about feeling so crappy. Your authenticity is priceless and heart wrenching as always. You are so right about female friends. I've had wonderful friendships in my life and they have sustained me. Thanks so much for reminding me. I keep telling myself that life is often isolated when you get older. True. But it doesn't feel good! And good lord, my reaction to running into you would be to tear up and thank you and ask how you are doing. So imagine that. Glad you are feeling better. Glad the youtube algorithm brought me to this interview. Reminds me of how rich it is to listen to someone speak so personally.

"It's not always easy if you have mental issues to let other people see." You're damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you do, you scare people away or face ridicule, and if you don't they think you're being rude when you set boundaries to protect your mental health. Or, worse, they judge you as lazy/self-centered when you can't meet obligations or expectations. Our culture is not kind to those struggling with mental illness.
