She was always smirking. The Family should not have to keep facing a parole board every 2 years. Her sentence was life.

Unfortunately in those days, life meant you could be paroled in 30 years, that was the law at the time. But I can't think of anything that would be more deserving of the death penatly than what she did.

Her mother is no one to lecture anybody for anything. The man she married (Bev Russell, Susan's stepdad) sexually molested Susan for years. When Susan told school counselors, they tried to do something about it. However, Bev Russell was kind of a "big wig" in the area, so it was swept under the rug. The mom stayed right with the man. It even continued after that. It happened not long before she married David. To be honest, I don't know if David ever had a paternity test done on those boys or not. Susan was always a rough one, if you know what I mean.

This lady is such a disappointment. Even after living in prison she could only muster up a fake cry. She said something about learning from her mistakes or growing up and changing. You don’t need any of those to know you’re not supposed to hurt your children. I still don’t understand how she was given a chance of parole. It’s like two for the price of one human life.

30 years and the single thing she never said today was what she learnt in prison over 30 years. I’d have said what I did to my children was beyond brutal and I deserved the 30 years I’d served and I’d have said I’ve learnt it’s never ok to take a life for any reason. She hasn’t learnt anything in the 30 years she’s had in prison to think about her actions and the pain she has caused even to people worldwide who watched at the time and believed her story.

As far as I'm concern, Susan Smith should be in prison forever. Maybe release when she's in her mid 70s and simply not mentally and physically capable or hurting another innocent person again. But I would love to know what was in her mind when she was 22-23 back then. And did she really think she would get away with it.

This lady has learned absolutely nothing. Heck, if she really wanted to reform she would have been a model prisoner. She hasn't been. She's been caught using drugs, having sex with guards, mutilating herself, and using another inmate's pin number. This lady cares about one person, and that is herself. She should never be let out of prison.

Smith's father died by suicide when she was six years old, and Smith herself attempted suicide at age 13. Her mother then married Beverly C. Russell Jr. who later was revealed to have molested Smith when she was a teenager. Russell was a local businessman who later gained prominence in South Carolina's Republican Party and the Christian Coalition. Both Smith and Russell have stated that sexual relations between them continued until six months before the murders.[7][8] If people would only do some research to understand, not excuse, why people behave the way they do. The human mind is very delicate and those whose minds are not sensitive are very dangerous. Sure David Smith has aged, but you can see how a healthy mind can be worn down. His life is ruined too.
