Baltimore sues ghost gun maker Polymer80

Baltimore has filed a lawsuit against Polymer80, one of the country's largest manufacturers of ghost guns. The suit alleges the Nevada-based company flooded the city with guns and fueled a public health crisis. Champe Barton, a reporter for The Trace, joins CBS News' Jamie Yuccas to discuss this lawsuit.

A year ago i ran into and talked with an old associate from high school days who is a rapper, felon and former gang member, he told me that real shooters do not like polymer80 kits, they are known to jam frequently and he said most of the kids he knows will pay extra money for factory OEM pistols. He said that pulling up with a polymer80 gun is like showing up at the basketball court with fake Jordans LOL....

What people get wrong with "ghost" guns is you can't sell, trade, lend, or transfer said firearm and it has to have your personal information marked on it. Criminals however don't obey the law when manufacturing a firearm so they aren't inscribing their personal details on it in the first place because criminals don't obey the law.

There *are* laws against building your own guns. If you can't buy it, you can't build it. But homebuilders aren't building guns from P80. They're drilling a couple holes with jigs from P80 and assembling it with another kit less the frame they pick up from the internet. Companies like P80 made it like a Lego kit.

Ghost guns have always been around. Most of the gun use in Old Court, Towson, Woodlawn, etc in the 80s/90s were of ghost guns. They were made untraceable because guns were allocated to particular squads. Meaning, they were filed. Interchanged parts. To make them.an extension of the hand to those whom weild them. Like tailored suits.

They are "untraceable" because they aren't required to be serialized. I can make my own firearm in my machine shop and by law I am not required to serialize it and register that serial number to a firearm. The law was written before polymer frames and such were used. The law didn't keep pace with technology. It defined a fire arm as a piece of metal or polymer that is 80% of it way into being a funtional firearm.

The Gun Control Act of 1968 states "...all firearms manufactured or imported into the United States are required to bear a serial number." The law further defines a "firearm" as follows: " (3) The term 'firearm' means (A) any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive; (B) the frame or receiver of any such weapon; (C) any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; or (D) any destructive device. Such term does not include an antique firearm." The DAs and AGs of every State ought to join in on this lawsuit. Congress also ought to find out from ATF why they have not apprehended the principles of this & similar companies for clearly violating Federal law.

"Manufacture" is defined as (since you like to quote things you've read so much): "to make something on a large scale using machinery" 3D printing one gun in your home is not a large scale by any measure. Sleepy Joe should just invoke the war powers act and confiscate all the ammunition, on all store shelves, with compensation of course, but, and this is important, not in private possession. The right to keep and bear arms.... arms include ammunition and any feeding device such as magazines and clips as eliminating those will make the firearm ineffective. This is why the 2A was left vague; to account for this. This also includes taxation, need for licenses/permits and waiting periods. These are all infringements.
