Marking 55 years since Neil Armstrong, Apollo 11 moon landing

Saturday marks 55 years since Neil Armstrong first stepped foot on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Derrick Pitts, chief astronomer at the Franklin Institute, joined CBS News to discuss the event's significance in history and space exploration.

It’s amazing that I have more advanced technology in my iPhone but I can’t even get a signal in certain parts of London. Also amazing the photographer that took the picture of the ship landing - they must of had two ships - what an incredible achievement 😒

@@user-rt9xu4zu9d Any radio amateur can explain to you why you sometimes have no signal on your phone and why communication to the moon and back is possible. Only film footage of the 6 landings was made from the inside. There were indeed 2 ships. One landed on the moon and the other continued to orbit the moon.

Just this video? What nonsense. There are thousands of hours of all Apollo projects here on KZbin alone. It involved more than 400,000 people over 10 years working at major contractors such as Boeing, North American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft Company, IBM, Motorola and MIT University.

@@wimkuijpers1342 My mother-in-law's brother was a NASA rocket scientist who worked in Houston and retired from NASA. He passed away several years ago. The technology used back in the day of the Apollo missions just wasn't around and you expect me to believe that the filming studio where it was all faked is located and hidden from the public at Area 51 isn't true. We cannot travel outside the van allen belt as the radiation would have killed the astronauts. Now, I don't believe like some that it was faked by Kubrick film producer as his daughter would have known. No reason after over 50 years we have NEVER wanted to return as it would be a vital importance to return if we wanted to explore other planets. A great place to train for other missions. Too many questionable things arise to believe it was real and it's been investigated so many times and NASA is well known for telling lies.
