The acting seemed really superb in this one. The male playing the old father was a bit over-the-top but still phenomenal.

I love these mysteries. It brings me back to when I was a teenager growing up in Chicago in the 1970's and my Mom and I would listen to these in a dark room on nights my Dad was working late. It was always one of my favorite activities when I was a kid and one of my favorite memories as an adult. Thank you so much for posting these stories!

Thank you Chilly! I was listening to another channel that had over 1300 entries and had been for some time. All of a sudden as of yesterday..nowhere to be found. When I go to History there is no evidence of me even listening to the podcast. I was heartbroken. I've listened to these shows on Sunday evening growing up in Illinois out of Chicago. Thank you again!

Teri Keane played the lead role, apparently, and according to the information I found, she is still alive, now age 95. I believe she is also the woman's voice in the Contac medicine commercial that begins at 36:11. Rosemary Rice played the younger sister. She had a busy career on radio and TV and also played Betty on old time radio's "Archie Andrews," which I'm guessing was the first portrayal of that character from the "Archie" comics. She died in 2012 at age 87.

Master Yoda, many people hate the ads, but they are part of how it was originally broadcast, and ground it in that time. I'm glad they've been kept in.
The woman’s face in the painting is so innocent and beautiful and the tattoos are frightening!

Thank you for uploading these! I'm having trouble finding podcasts that satisfy my story craving when I'm working. I am proud of Erika--unlike a lot of commenters here, I feel like she tried to do the right thing. Even if it wasn't self-defense, she probably protected her sister from being killed like their mother was.

Erika is a heroine in my eyes, justice was served! I think his demise was a little too convenient though, but it suits the story.

Now the air is cold with early, chill, dark nights...the time for ghost stories and fantasy! Perhaps two radio play ghost stories I’ve produced AND a brand new mystery listed on my channel “Claude Chabot Presents” right here on YT AND a radio fantasy comedy, “A Trip to the Moon” starring Joyce Randolph of The Honeymooners, which features Larry Robinson, who, as a child actor, actually worked with Orson Welles. Here’s the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpbbY5-qrtCBiq8--Claud. If you don’t want to click the link just search “Claude Chabot presents” on KZbin.

SPOILER ALERT!!! I liked the story; and I also liked it that her little sister had painted on tattoos. It was obvious that she could not have had them done in such a short amount of time for several reasons. I saw it coming, all but how she would do the deed. The father drove her daughter to it! Even if you don't like such things as the carnies and their freaks, you could never raise your daughters this way and have them respect you. I have been through the raising of four children and if I had treated them that way, they would also hate me. Personally I don't like tattoos myself, but it really is no judge of their character unless the tattoos are gang related or other such designs. This story troubled me somewhat by how the father treated his daughters; I thought he was a pervert! ...and the suggestion that she exposed herself to her father in a g-string did not help much. I guess there will always be perverts; even those that write stories like this.

Not a pleasant or enjoyable story, but an important message. Predictable ending with almost laughable overacting by the father. One of the weaker episodes. 6 out of 10.
