She asked about now being apart of capitalistic gains and wealth thanks to the series, however he was only paid standard rate in Korea for season one and didn't see the huge profit from that season. It is only now with it's immense popularity he was able to negotiate to get paid more.

As a Korean, I never imagined that films or shows written in Korean and deeply rooted in Korean culture could resonate so profoundly with Western audiences. Squid Game features many settings and cultural nuances that, in my opinion, might not be fully recognized or appreciated by those who haven’t lived in Korea. Yet, seeing how a global audience has embraced the show is truly fascinating. Perhaps that’s the power of a well-crafted story-transcending language and cultural barriers.

Ironically Korea has been successful with shows critical of capitalism (I've lived in Korea for over 20 years and have seen how competative it can be here-- and stressful) like SG and Parasite. Ironically, they are violent, appealing to American audiences, but Korea is a very safe society, esp when it comes to almost non-existant violent crimes.

and do yourself a favor; watch the subtitled versions, not dubbed. most of these films are drama and acting is everything; even animated films should be watched in its native language, as the original dubbers worked with the film makers and know what they wanted; you will forget you are reading the subtitles after few minutes into watching

Why in the world are we in love with dystopias? As Freud would explain it, humans are drawn to death and war. Still, can't we be drawn to realistic utopias? As Emerson once said, "A man becomes what he thinks about all day." Why do we insist on collective nightmares when we cam just as easily have collective dreams and visions?
