I’ve driven through those border towns a couple times coming from Houston. I’ve enjoyed passing by and opt to drive highway 90 instead of I-35 because I get to drive through these towns. Eagle pass and Del Rio. Very beautiful in their own way. It’s a different Texas out there. A Texas that a lot of people don’t know about or hear about. Just passing by is very peaceful. However, I can feel the vibrant culture that lives in those towns. The city parks, the people, and murals are very welcoming. All this displays an old Mexican-Texan culture that has quietly lived in peace for a very long time. If yall ever get a chance, go visit the area.

The thing that struck me is that the Native Americans, Mexicans and Americans have lived and worked together there for years, sharing their histories and lives in peace. The Mexicans are here legally, working and living in harmony with each other and the land. It was when the Federal Government began to intervene that things got fouled up.

I would say “WHEN ALL THOSE PEOPLE FROM SOUTH AMERICA AND AFRICA STARTED SHOWING UP CREATING TROUBLE” Our town was founded in 1720s… then it was split in two after the Mex/US war. My grandparents families were on both sides of the river for many generations. Over here when you refer to the “Mexican side” or “the American side” you just say “the other side” (el otro lado) or “going across”.

Lived on the border near Big Bend National Park for many yrs. When I travel people from all over the country NEVER ask me about the border, they tell me what is clearly misinformation of an angry nature about my very safe home and life on the border and insist that I am misinformed! How strange is that someone 1,200 miles away claims to knows more than you about your neighbors and home town. Difficult times sorting truth from fiction. Viva! Terlingua!

Sadly looking into the roots of the issues mean admitting the USA has damaged countless countries with its policies. The war on drugs is a cause of these massive cartels in the countries of middle snd South America. Also that our policies of sanctioning economy of countries we don’t like ( such as Venezuela) are a failure. Would also require more federal government funding ( something republicans hate) to hire more immigration judges and increase ability to process claims.

This is what VP Harris worked on for three years (2021-2023), building coalitions with South American and Central American countries to stem the flow of migrants. A lot of progress was made, but the climate change issues that affect these nations, and the violence in some of them that come from the American appetite for drugs and the American-supplied guns make these enormous difficult problems to fix. Google "Strategy to Address the Root Causes of Migration in Central America" to learn more about what the media should have been telling you about.

I spent 8 years teaching English at Eagle Pass High School. Coming from a conservative West Texas oil field town, I was only 23 when I moved there, and until the end of that first year, it felt like I was living in a foreign country. But then the magic of "los pueblos" was shown to me when personal tragedy struck. That first spring in Eagle Pass my apartment burned to the ground. At the end of my first day back at school, two different students came to me with the same message, "Mr. Evans, my mom and dad heard about the fire in your apartment and how you lost everything. They told me to ask you to come live in our home and be part of our family for as long as you want to stay. Would you like to do that? We have room." I didn't know either of them. I realized then that I was not in a foreign country; the love and kindness those two and their families showed caused me to reflect on many other kindnesses and acts of sheer love that had been all around me since my arrival in Eagle Pass the previous August. And it changed me. The current interference and misunderstanding of Eagle Pass by outsiders reminds me of who I was before I began my 8 years of teaching in Eagle Pass beginning in 1976. Luckily, my experiences there have caused me to keep my own quote fresh in my mind..."I have known love, kindness, and I have witnessed acts of angels. And angels are not strangers to Eagle Pass, Texas." Outsiders may never understand. Hola, Jesse Fuentes. Do you remember the night we tried to camp on Devil's Backbone and got rained out? Vayas te con Dios, amigo. God Bless Eagle Pass. And thank you for the lessons you taught a young teacher trying to find his way.

I was working in Carrizo Springs in 2010 and had to stay in Eagle Pass. It was early February, it was extremely dangerous there at that time. The cartels were kidnapping people at alarming rate. A kidnap expert from another country that was training the local police went missing, later found dead. A mountain bike team from Cananda was ambushed on Hwy 90 heading to Del Rio in two vans, stopped by a teenager on the road and everyone was killed, second van was able to escape with injuries. I doubt it has gotten better like this spin job from CBS claims.

Some of my family came to the Rio Grande/Bravo area in the early 1700 some where already here, they intermarried and created me and my family. They lived on both sides of the river. Then came people from the north and drew a line in the map and split our towns. Today we got thousands of people that come from South America (Africa, Middle East) and brought chaos and trouble to our lovely towns… Yes I am mad at those people that just arrive from the south and Central America. They’ll pass by but the concertina wire and the fence are going to stay. Those people just brought nothing but trouble to our area (yes we had our troubles but nothing comes near to the level they created). They turned our border into a war zone! Now when you travel north to San Antonio is like trying to leave a war zone.. Border Patrol checks your car looking for these individuals… Our towns were part of corridos now there’s nothing but trash in our river and train cars blocking the view of our river. 😒😒😒

This story was very biased and to far left. OH and I love how you guys ended the video by basically saying if she wins she will open the border and like them flood in..

You heard something you didn't like and immediately dismissed it as leftist propaganda. Do you live in a boarder town? If you don't, then why don't you listen to what the border town residents have to say? Abbott doesn't live in a border town either but pushes his OWN narrative which you gladly accept because it aligns with your worldview. YOU are the biased one

@@NUNE1616 Rediculous comparison. Anything to try and justify racism, huh? These people have to work if they want to rent a place and use their money to pay the rent. No one is breaking into any houses. America is one of the least densely populated countries in the world, with one of the most natural resources and the highest GDP per capita.

@you have no clue of what’s happening down here. Todays migration is very different from before, there is places where the migrants still not working living of government money. If they work they lose their benefits!

Can you even define "communism?" It's about advocating for citizens to share ownership of everything with no personal property anymore -- no Democrats support that. Meanwhile Trump is hosting openly racist speakers at Madison Square Gardens, one of whom "joked" that there's a huge pile of trash floating in the ocean....called Puerto Rico. This is the despicable pig you support, someone whose wife and daughters can't stand to be near him, who speaks openly about turning the military against ordinary Americans simply for disagreeing with him, and who told an armed mob to attack our lawmakers. That is fascism. That is the choice.

That rhetoric has been going on since the Irish started to come in the 1850’s, then the Italian and Jews now it’s the Hispanic turn to be hated. Read a history book, you’ll be shocked how nothing’s new. Politicians have been using this topic for centuries. 😊
