Decades ago, while I was a police officer in Hollywood, I was hired to guard Mr Jones for a public event. There were thousands of people in the crowd and I didn’t know how I was going to protect him by myself. We met and he looked down at me, a 5’6” short girl, and jokingly said, “Are you the only one they sent?”. I was embarrassed, until Mr Jones said, “Don’t worry. We’ll do this together.” Then he put his big arm around my shoulders, pulled me in close to his tall body and we walked side by side through a crowd of thousands of screaming fans. No one bothered either of us. Mr Jones could’ve acted like the usual prima donna actors I’d worked with before, but instead he was a warm, humble, kind and funny man who made my job a breeze that day. Thank you and rest in peace. ❤

Wow, that’s so cool you had the chance to meet him, and thank you for sharing that memory with us. As a 90’s kid, I remember hearing him as Mufasa in “The Lion King”, and although I didn’t get the chance to meet him, I feel like I knew him because of him being part of my childhood. Rest in peace, James, and thank you for all you did for everyone in the entertainment industry. May you live on in our hearts forever! ✌🏼 🤗 😘

James Earl Jones referring to himself merely as 'special effects', despite the voice being Darth Vader's most commanding feature, truly reflects his humility and humbleness.

I remember hearing his voice for the first time as Darth Vader. My eyes were glued to the TV screen. I could not believe what I was hearing and seeing!!! Who is this guy, I thought?!!! I have loved Darth Vader ever since.🖤 And when I heard his voice again in Rogue One, I felt that age had made his voice that much better for the character.🖤 I know we all have to go, but some exits are harder than others.

Well, I can honestly tell you, CBS Sunday Morning, he lived the best life and long as he could, for sure. Frankly it might not have seemed like enough, but 93 years, was pretty good, to say the least. James Earl Jones was just not a man with an iconic voice, but a great human personality. We will miss a legend like him. There’s only one James Earl Jones, in this world. Rest in Peace.
