A new HBO documentary by filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, "Pelosi in the House," traces the pioneering career of her mother, Nancy Pelosi, the first female Speaker of the House. Alexandra talks with CBS News' John Dickerson about her not-quite-authorized film that observes her mother's public and private worlds, up to the insurrectionists' violent attack on Congress on January 6, 2021. She also talks about her father, Paul; his recovery from a brutal assault by an intruder in her parents' San Francisco home; and how Paul feels about his wife's career.

None of us know "what Paul Pelosi has done for Nancy." There is something dharmic called PRIVATE no matter how the insidious Dark tries to tear it down, no can do. By the way, Nancy Pelosi is a whole lot more than her role of tremendous service for all Americans but I draw the line on where to speculate, that is all it is: A view through imperfect-humans-controlled technology.

This little clip answered so many questions I have had about Speaker Pelosi, the threats to her life, her husbands attack, and her daughter's opinion. I was behind the camera for 13 years. I know how comforting it is to have that barrier. It was wonderful that Alexandra stepped in front of the camera for this important message. She comes across as funny, intelligent, fierce, and honest. Everything I thought about Nancy Pelosi was verified. The American people have no idea what a debt we owe to her. I hope the documentary airs on multiple platforms.

Undoubtedly the richest and benefited from her position in politics to increase her wealth. We have too many rich politicians in office and that's why the country is doomed if something doesn't happen to change that. They should outlaw campaign contributions, lobbying, and insider trading. While I appreciate this tiny glimpse into the Pelosi family, I'm also angered that so many awful people made a joke out of such a serious attack on their patriarch, they call Nancy evil names. They complain about poor candidates. Well, why would other good-hearted candidates want to get into politics with that treatment? We get what we deserve, I guess. Nancy Pelosi is a rock star. We Americans been so blessed to have Nancy Pelosi in Congress and as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. As someone who supported John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Barack Obama and many others, I realize that the more effective one is in one's political office - particularly on the progressive side - the more one is hated by those who don't want that person to succeed. Mrs. Pelosi is definitely one of those most effective people and I know she will be remembered positively by most people for all the good she's done for the America.

@@nancychandler3673 Well, according the biographical book, Queens of The Resistance: Nancy Pelosi, pp 155-158, authors Jones and Trotman, described how 16 House Democrats in 2018 signed a pledge to vote against Madam Pelosi if she ran for Leader again. It seems Hon. Ocasio-Cortez, Hon. Tlaib, and Hon Omar, wanted to be "groomed" for top House positions. So, Speaker Pelosi agreed not to run for another term as Leader. It is an interesting twist that the leadership is not going to any of those women.

So many of us love, respect, and admire Speaker Pelosi. The hate culture that targets women is unfathomable. Nancy hasn't hurt anyone, but because some can't handle the truth they put a target on her back. She is yet another strong woman who never breaks. I could never say how much I appreciate what she's done, especially when she's been put through so much. God bless her and her family. Peace and love to Paul.

It was worth it because your mother is so strong and such a good leader she made all the difference on January 6th so they all stayed and completed their electoral duty and didn't hand over the capital to a bunch of rabble, thus quite likely saving our country and democracy. So very important and it took so much courage. We the people were all watching live on line through the whole thing as witnesses, so proud of your mom.

i live in SF and often see nancy walking at local beach. last time i saw her there was january 9, 2021 3 days after the insurrection. we were both masked and i asked if i could snap a quick pic as she's a hero of mine. after we did, i said "go get those F'ers" and Mme. Speaker chuckled lightly under her mask. she is truly one of the wise 13 (now 14) grandmothers of the world who have made this place a better experience because of their presence and leadership. thanks Mme. Speaker. you are simply the best.

Speaker Pelosi is nothing short of amazing. We should all thank her for being a brave American when we needed brave Americans the most. I hope she knows how much she is honored and respected. It’s easy to see that Alexandria is her mother’s daughter.
