This is an awesome episode. The 1 thing the prof seems to forget to mention, is that there is a strong percentage of Taiwanese who are very active and attentive to politics, both at local and national levels. As an outside observer seeing how in USA many people thought that democracy would just win without attention and effort, Taiwan really has an advantage. I highly recommend watching Timothy Snyder on the topic. Also, the media environment in Taiwan just appears to be a lot more robust/diverse compared to USA. I have not heard you all talk about media and newspapers in local areas closing down, to the same extent as in USA, where it really makes a big difference because of how big and vast the country is. 加油!
Taiwan's danger is primarily external. It's just that there are increasingly obvious internal collaboration with the source of this danger. The fact that it's so obvious yet everyone still refrains from talking about it is extremely concerning. I sincerely hope i'm wrong here.
"The measure is does this institution have integrity?"
