I just purchased a LEAF and this adapter is part of why, thanks for showing how well it works! Chademo is a great fast charging standard (it goes up to 400kwh and had bi-directional flow years ago), but as North America and Europe never settled on it, it will become harder to find Chademo and our Chademo charger spots tend to be slower. This changes everything! What a great thing a simple adapter can do.

Hi Glyn, thanks to your videos I am now also a proud owner of a Nissan NV200. Can't wait to take it to all European climbing areas next year. Would be very very happy to meet up or chat with you guys. You have truly been a huge inspiration

This is very, very exciting. There are far fewer Chademo than CCS being installed and the old ones are dying, both in UK and Europe. I was worried Chademo vehicles would soon become obsolete. We've had our 24Kw eNV200 for 5 years and, inspired by Glyn and Amy, we converted it to a campervan and have done a number of big European trips (Germany, Austria, Italy and France and Spain). As Glyn says it requires patience and persistence with a max range of 70 miles, but this adaptor will be a game changer and open up so many more charging options. Thanks for all your videos.

Nice to have this adaptor tested by Glyn Hudson. I would have reached for my wallet after this video had I not already had my Type 1 socket converted to a Type 2/CCS - at three times the price. But good news for ENV200 owners, especially in areas of Europe where (working) Chademo chargers are becoming hard to find.

Hi Frances, I'm a French owner of a 40kWh e-NV200 and I got the same CCS2.0 install by MUXSAN (Netherlands) in Jan24. My experience is that my CCS doesn't work on all chargers, especially the superchargers. It seems to be ok on the ones that are tri-standards and deliver only 50kW maximum. Another issue is that this CCS seems to override the rapidgate software, which is meant to protect the battery in the long run. So I tend to use it only when stuck on out-of-order CHADEMO chargers. I'm interested in your own feedback. Thanks. Sylvain, in the Paris suburbs area.
@FrancesRAllen24 күн бұрын
@ sorry you have had problems. I used with success in France, Belgium, Netherland, Luxembourg and Italy. But I never tried a Tesla charger. It was a game changer, but if I were doing it now I would go for the adapter Glyn Hudson has demonstrated. Sadly my env200 was written off in a carport collapse in August and I now have an eBerlingo. I lurk on this forum out of nostalgia and because there is some good stuff. The Berlingo forum is not exclusively electric and anyhow I have so far failed to join it!

Thanks for sharing Glyn, it looks to be a well made unit. We've recently returned from our first long-distance adventure in our 40kWh e-NV200. Suffolk UK to Finland via Harwich/Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden then Finland. Until we got to Finland we did manage to locate enough CHAdeMO chargers. Your EVSE unit was also useful in some stops where we were allowed to use the "hook-up" to charge (not many!). Finland is a little behind, we planned to rely on LIDL as they have CHAdeMO units but soon found that their App (the only way to imitate a charge) seems to only recognise UK chargers and the helpline was silent. We had to change our plans in Finland and took a leisurely tour back instead. I think one of these units will make the whole experience much less challenging. Often we found we had to wait as the only CHAdeMO unit at any particular place generally had a Leaf parked up!

Any risk of socket damage I wonder? Some of the CCS plugs and cables are pretty heavy, and you're adding a bit of a lever to it. I wonder if you could 3D print a little shim which supports the weight off the car body work instead of transferring it all down into the car's charging socket?
