48 year old Turkish carpet that hasn't been washed for more than half a century!

Hello Friends!
Today l cleaned a very dirty and very big carpet. This big dirty rug is one of my favorite types of rugs. lts traditional look appealed to me and the color was also quite beaufiful.
While the carpet looked bad when it came to me because of its dirt, it returned home clean after washing.
l hope enjoy it :)

when people say "all that soap and water is a waste, i'd just buy a new carpet" I think about ones like these and how many of the carpets you've shown on this channel have some amount of historical or clear sentimental value. definitely worth the effort

I also think about reduce, reuse and recycle. Throwing away something just because it’s dirty is wasteful. Which is worse for the environment? Using soap and water to clean a dirty carpet or throwing the dirty carpet away? The process of manufacturing a new carpet affects the environment too.

Some of these rugs take long to produce(2-3 years), so he may have considered that even the weaver did not wash it during the manufacturing time. When added to 48 years of service, the unwashed time will exceed 50 years.

These are very expensive hand made carpets that are measured by the knots that are tightly woven by hand ...carpet making in turkey 🇹🇷 goes back centuries...every middle east country has this type of craftsmanship...Prussian rugs are often scene as the most coveted and the most expensive.

48 is not that old for that kind of carpet. Most of the dirt was mud. Probably recently acquired during a flood.

I read an article about the renovation of the "Fabulous Fox Theater" in Atlanta, they were lucky to have found a section of the original carpet that was covered by a heavy filing cabinet all those years and the rug company was able to use it to reproduce the exact same colors and patterns in the newer carpet.
