Replacing a CCV valve can be tricky because they become very fragile over time. In this video I show the easiest way to replace them and I cover the part numbers below for the Jeep Wrangler 4.0.
Parts:
Doorman front CCV/PCV valve: amzn.to/2vK5bb6
Doorman rear CCV/PCV valve: amzn.to/2wJHlRi
Doorman Grommet: amzn.to/2wow0nc
👨‍🔧 A few of my favorite tools 👇
Milwaukee 3/8 Cordless Ratchet: amzn.to/39x7WAO
24" Breaker Bar: amzn.to/2RnuSNC
Craftsman Torque Wrench: amzn.to/2Wj7JiD
Extendable Socket Wrench: amzn.to/2LJNV2k
1/2" Craftsman Impact Driver I use. Love this thing
amzn.to/2fTDoTR
Dewalt 1/4 impact driver: amzn.to/2GYEJ4w
Be sure to get the kit with 2 batteries. You'll be glad you did!
Craftsman 165 Mechanics Tool Set: amzn.to/2GXRlIg
Excellent tool set that will last a lifetime.
Oil filter Wrench: amzn.to/2IbgT9e
Large Capacity Oil Drain Pan: amzn.to/2OjqXjh

Working on a buddy's '03 Wrangler TJ, and this was the only video I could find that actually had the CCV instead of the PCV! Awesome tutorial, helped me out a ton after I destroyed the front elbow trying to get it out. Accidentally broke the crankcase to intake manifold breather tube while trying the replace the rubber fitting on it too. That was a PITA to find for the '03 but thankfully Amazon has it all.

Thanks for the video! Just replaced my valves. My reason was actually because the hose going from the back valve to the manifold cracked, figured why I was in there, mind as well spend $25 and replace all the parts. I was getting some oil seepage onto the valve cover, so in the end it needed to be freshened up. For your viewers knowledge, I ordered the hose from my local auto store, got Dorman part #46006. This part actually doesn't fit the Wrangler, BUT, it'll work if all you need is the one hose leading to the manifold. It comes with two hoses taped together. The other hose (I believe for the MAP sensor) does not fit, I think it's intended for the Cherokee. I could have ordered the correct part from Chrysler, but I was looking at about twice the cost. 1995 Wrangler SE 4.0 liter I6.

Thanks for another awesome video! I have an '88 YJ with the original Mopar Fuel Injection conversion kit installed. It is possible deteriorated PCV and CCV connections can cause emissions failures? Trying to find the source of my high Nox. It's frustrating because half the engine parts are from the '88 carbureted motor while the top half is mostly from what I think is the '91-95 engine setups. But not sure, one commenter below mentioned his '93 used a "twist lip PCV." I guess we'll find out. I purchased it with the kit, so Im sort of figuring it out as I go.

Thanks for these tutorials; I’ve replaced nearly everything on an old family favorite. Having a tough time finding the location of the Canister Purge Valve on a 1995 YJ 4.0. It has stumped 3 good parts mechanics and my favorite mechanic, who looked for it with me under the hood, and then couldn’t locate it while on the lift doing a rear main seal job. Any help appreciated.

So my rear PCV/CCV valve on my 2000 TJ is leaking oil all over my engine. My oil level is on par so it's not leaking too bad, and I put about 3 to 4 thousand miles on it a year. I have work I'm going to do in the Fall with my rad that has a patch job over a pinhose leak, and was hoping tob put this leak off too. Long story short. I was on a 300 mile road trip everything is fine, but all of a sudden my cruise control is out, just stopped working. Then it worked again, then stopped. Next thing I got the check engine light. So I pull over and look under the hood. It's dirty, but my only known issue is it revved high in park, and oil leaks from that valve. Not much I can do on a Sunday in the middle of nowhere so I push it 100 more miles. Fuel economy seemed to drop, other than that no problems. Good oil pressure, 210 degrees, RPMs not indicating an issue. In fact it sounded great. My bet is that valve trapped enough air in my engine to set off the check engine light. However, my question is do you know of any way that may correlate with my cruise control, or should I hastily be looking at my throttle? Or anything I'm not thinking about?

They should be in the same spot (on top of the valve cover), but it is good to be sure of exactly what you have. Check out moparpartsgiant . com, and then select your vehicles info on the site, and then check out the part numbers and diagrams for the different parts of your vehicle, as to get an idea of what goes where. Some parts can be found/purchased on their website, but not everything is still being sold there, but with some searching elsewhere online, you will find the part you need.

@@prestoc3034 thanks, dude - just checked: 53030495 is the rear valve which is discontinued, 53030991 the front valve which you can still order -- still not sure about the CCV/PCV difference and location front/rear.
@prestoc3034
@prestoc3034 3 жыл бұрын
@@JoeVizethum You are welcome. The front one that connects to the air cleaner box, is hollow, and the other one that connects to the intake plenum, is also hollow, but with one difference.. it has an orifice (a small 1/8 hole) to help stop oil splatter from getting up into the elbow. While the engine is running, air is vented and pulled from the completely hollow elbow (ccv), which draws from the air cleaner box, through the engine valve cover and out through the (pcv), which pulls the engine blow by into the intake plenum, via the vacuum pressure pulling the air through. For parts on your jeep that need replaced, try checking online at the "jeep hut", "rock auto", "summit racing", and if any of those fail at producing what you need, then you will have to check ebay and amazon, but be warned that they are not as professional to the auto parts info as the more 'dedicated to auto' stores will be. Those are the one's I have had luck with the most for my jeep parts. Summit racing is the fastest at getting things shipped out, but amazon is also speedy at shipping stuff out sometimes.. but they may ask a little more $$ for things.

I bought a '94 GC 4.0L for my CJ7 years ago. I ran it with no problems for a couple years. I had the Hesco mpi kit already when I did the motor swap. The frame started rotting out so I pulled the motor and a bunch of other stuff and got rid of it. I replaced it with my YJ. One of the first things I put on the YJ was the mpi kit and the 4.0 valve cover. I just pulled the 4.2 out of the YJ and swapped in the same 4.0 that was in the CJ. For the 1st time, I looked inside the valve cover when I went to replace the CCV and elbow. I was surprised to see that they were both CCV elbows with the orifice. As far as I know the motor was completely untouched when I bought it. It ran perfectly fine on the CJ and the YJ so I'm wondering if it was supposed to be like that? I put a regular elbow in the front like most all of them are but I've wondered about that since I saw it

Great removal, one tip, don't use oil or petroleum products to help seat the elbows into the rubber grommets; direct petroleum applications on the plastic and rubber will break down both causing premature failure and brittleness. petroleum eats rubber and plastic. Use slimy spit after chugging a pepsi.

Having worked on several Jeeps where the rear manifold vacuum air pipe connector has been plugged with oil and carbon deposits. Thus stopping any vacuum being created under the rocker valve cover. The first of the 2, (the ccv) is fully hollow, which connects to the hose from the air-cleaner box. The other one is the pcv, and that one connects to the intake plenum, and is hollow as well, but on the bottom side of it, where it goes into the valve cover, has an orifice (1/8 inch hole) to help stop any oil splatter from getting up into the elbow and through the vacuum tube.

Hi! Thanks for the video! I know this is older, but hoping you still see this/reply :D The hose on the valve in the rear is very loose on my 92 wrangler yj and slips off very easily. Any recommendations on how to make sure it holds in place? Can I just fixate it with a screw-clamp-thingy? :D

Yeah, a hose clamp on it should do the trick 👍

I have been having rough idle issues for a while now, this video helped so much lol. Basically the previous owner had the pcv valve for the back on the front and back which was the small hole. Do you know if this affected my idle at all? I just ordered the parts.

Looking for some help... I just bought a 94’ Cherokee with the 4.0. As I’m giving it a tune up I’ve noticed the grommets are plastic and are leaking oil. There is no simple rubber grommet to cut off when replacing the PCV valves, instead it’s plastic and seems like it’s going to break. Surely someone else has came across the same problem?

Some valve covers are different and the pcv valves lock/ loosen by turning them. They have 2 groves on the bottom the rubber is under the pcv itself. I'm looking up the part #s, I've only found the front open pcv valve going into the intake air box. # 47056

on my TJ, i have a check engine light code P0455, and i am hoping that is the issue, but after inspecting both PVC valves they are both in bad condition so i am betting that is the culprit.

what are the hose part numbers?
@JeepSolid

Here's the parts I used in the video. Doorman front CCV/PCV valve: amzn.to/2vK5bb6 Doorman rear CCV/PCV valve: amzn.to/2wJHlRi Doorman Grommet: amzn.to/2wow0nc. If you're looking for the hose, they have it in bulk at any autoparts store. If you have a section to bring down, they can match it up. Then buy whatever length you're looking for. If you're missing the hose all together, I'd bring the PCV valve down and find a hose that fits well. It's just a breather hose, so doesn't have to be certain part #. Hope that helps.

For anyone else with a 93 YJ, I found out it has a different PCV valve than the one use in the video. To remove it, disconnect any hoses, then twist counterclockwise 90 degrees and it pops right out. The valves have different lock and twist lips and the ones in the video wont fit. heres the front valve on amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C5I4ME/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 and back valve: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EIBOFIO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A108VDUN6CJBUD&psc=1 As a side note, under the front and back pcv valves there is a pretty big buildup of sludge/ carbon there. any advice on how to clean that gunk out before it damages the engine??

@JeepSolid
@JeepSolid 5 жыл бұрын
I'm saying many places list them as pcv, because that is the common term. The ones I link in my video are the correct ones for my engine, and they are listed as pcv, but don't actually have a valve. They are just open elbows, with metered openings. Places just label them as pcv.
