In the USA, "American football" is more important than football/soccer so soccer has to deal with the extra lines.

It's not that's it's more important, it's that the football and soccer teams share the same field. I mean, it's a high school stadium, and a lot of different sports share the main stadium. I believe the Lacrosse team also uses the same stadium.
