The cd just sounds best to me. CD and vinyl sounds nearly identical to me but i can hear a little more clarity with CD.

I run this same comparison myself some years ago. But used some much more complex music than NJ: Genesis Duke, Tool Lateralus and Pearl Jam Vitalogy, that means multiple layered distorted instruments at the same time. Vinyl can't stand a chance against CD. Clarity and separation is on another level. Also i recorded with a TASCAM pro recorder and after that i compare the tracks with a spectrum analyzer and CD is by far better and more consistent on high frequencies. So, saddly i sold my beautiful turntable setup and never looked back. Anyway, great video with nice recording, beautiful equipment and of course gorgeous track from Come Away With Me.

Honestly my favorite was the LP, just sounded warmer (but it is uTube) then the CD and Streaming there’s not enough difference to get my money. Besides I’d rather have physical copy. I do stream some but FM is still free and HD FM is free via the internet. Nice video. You must be great friends of Jay for him to lend you his Denafrips DAC.

Thanks for the video. I certainly preferred the strings from the LP and that was what I paid attention to with the song. I have this LP and CD but never tried comparing them. Norah Jones voice is not really pleasant to my ear - maybe a broad ridiculous assertion but right now that's what I think. I don't find myself singing along or tapping my foot or feeling much when she sings. Maybe it's the recording or mastering or whatever. Nice job by you though. Nice setup you have. Thanks again.

Vinyl without a question. I find it the most extended and airy. Don't ask me why. I actually have this CD and is not a well recorded CD by any stretch. The Denafrips helped it along, but then again the DAC was used across all 3. In the end, the vinyl jumped out right away and it wasn't subtle neither, it was by some margin.

LP is warmer and more human, with better bass reproduction. CD is slightly less edgy than streaming but not too much difference.

Okay, for me at sixty I’ll say that all three sound terrific. I do prefer the…tone an a bit more sonic depth of the vinyl record here best, but the other two sound great as well.

Different mastering make different sound quality. Try to buy a same version recording in CD and LP and then try again.

Did you try the oversampling function of the Pontus? I think it sounds the best.

A very good, complete demonstration of the 3 main playback of musical recordings; the "CD vs Streaming vs LP : Round1". I prefer the CD, and vinyl record versions of the music of Norah Jones performing Cold Cold Heart. Mostly my opinion; I grew up listening to the playback of records, 8-Track tape, and cassette tape. Later on musical listening was also from the CD. Streaming is very good; but to me I hear this ding, ding sound; the sound of music is too aggressive for me, and it does not have the depth of the LP, and Compact Disc. Streaming to me sounds two dimensional; actually as if it is in two, and a half dimensions. No offense intended, you have excellent hi fi audio equipment; however there is a softer sound, smoother rhythm, as well as more details of the musical performance within the recordings of LP, and CD. 🔉🎼🎵🎶

Considering the limited recording quality and Y-T compression I would rank: 1.) Rega, 2.) CD, 3.) streaming To get most out of streaming, you would need to use Audirvana on the MacBook and USB out needs to get a reclocker/isolator to eliminate the noise of the MAcBook. Audirvana reduces the background activities in the MB, you should run on battery, and dimm down the screen of the MB

Thanks for your suggestion , I will try Audirvana..

The best is the stream. The CD is close but less well you can hear the end of notes on the guitar The vinyl has a little less dynamic and a little less clarity so it's also softer. But the difference is not huge

CD sounded way better than streaming, the stream lacked much high end and dynamics. Big difference. Also you can record the vinyl to CD and the CD will sound the same as the vinyl. So CD wins. It would be better if it were blu-ray audio.
