Former CDCR CO here...Come over the federal side (and no, not bureau of prisons, forget all corrections work.) Much more freedom, no uniform, and can work at your own pace. A lot of my CDCR brethren's do not know about the federal side.

When the new state transportation buses came out with cameras. Let me tell you, it was time for this "Salty Dog" to retired. For those that have never worked in corrections. Keep in mind, just opening up and reading a newspaper. You are less than alert, per policy. It was a double edge sword. We all lived at those buses, I know I did for 14yrs. I got scolded for putting a drunk guy to bed once. I thought I handled everything well enough... Dude was on the yard after having too much... I walked him to the cell... Told his cops to keep an eye on him... Told his friends he wasnt feeling well... Said he needed to sleep it off... Asked people to keep an eye on him... I figured handled at the lowest level🤷‍♀️ Nah... People were still mad... What if he died? Uhm... What if he died? I just put him to bed and told him to deal with himself in the morning... Same that happens when i drink myself too stupid... What if i dont wake up in the morning... Same thing that happens to an inmate... Clean my body away... Clean the sheets remake the bed and hubby can sleep there the next night... Am I lying? Why is prison so complicated? We are more worried about an inmate sleeping off a bender than housing inmates safely... Because 8 square feet per human should be more important than do they drink or not🤷‍♀️ After all... Dont we all do something to cope with stress? Thanks for letting me vent with you! CDCR is... Confused... Everyone is confused SMH. P.S. I loved 3/W 😁

Man, what a topic. I remember in Corcoran back in 89' (B yard) Effie Rodriguez the yard sergeant, was screwing a buddy of mines wife. She was a C.O. Years later I met her husband at a party of mutual friends and ended up being really good friends with him on the streets, he worked as a freeperson in charge of the electrical at Delano. I remember both his wife and Effie from Corcoran. Ended in divorce.

Anyone still in the department... Seriously... Take a month off if you have the time on your books... You need it! I wasnt smart enough to do that... But it would have helped! Crazy is contagious!!!! We either go too hard or too soft... I'm on both ends... Too soft... But as soon as I feel injured I tend to attack🤷‍♀️ Luckily for me no one touches me... So... I havent had to physically hurt anyone... But I like many others... Live in a prison of my own making. Stay out of prisons... Cant escape the phsyical ones for a while... But we can still own our own minds and lives if we are strong enough. Stay strong warriors! Some may have lost the fight but you dont have to! But do you really know what you are fighting for? It probably isn't really for money...

Im an inmate and did over 10yrs in Connecticut prisons all over CT. I been to level 4 and 3 nithing less dor assult on police and bank robberry anyway doing time in Connecticut is so much different then what u f Guys are talking about its dangerous yes but its sweet compared to what yall go thru if u admit to being in a gang out here you go to " SRG" Security Risk Group which they send u to a level 5 basically go thru a gang program so theres still alotnof gangs abd alot of stuff happens but nobody dieing theres no race wars theres white people that are in black gangs purto ricans in black gangs vice versa why is California's prison system so rascist ? Our here its nothing like that
