I have been Dj'n since 2000, I have used Pioneer my entire career until last year....I switched my rider and I haven't looked back. Denon's technology is just way ahead of the game right now. I am so happy that I changed. I've connected BeatportLink and absolutely love it. Pioneer has changed but not enough to make a difference. I guarantee if you get Denon you will be super happy. I'm a techy guy, so the tech in these are right up my alley. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will be happy, but my recommendation is Denon.

Still the truth today! I had either 2 or 4 of every Pioneer deck since the 800s. I was about to pickup a pair of 3000s and tried a pair of SC6000s at the shop - the 3000s were out the window at that point. There are some slight nags about the 6000s however, the Pios have their issues as well. The SC6000 features COMPLETELY blow the 3000s away. Streaming connectivity is awesome and is reliable. This may not be a required by most club DJs however, it's an valuable feature for other types of DJs. Built in storage is also a game changer. To this day, Pioneer is still lagging way behind Denon. Pioneer's Beatport streaming is just about useless. Given the price of these decks, shame on Pioneer.

I have the Denon rig and have used it for about a year now. The Processor on board to beat grid and analyze songs on the fly is awesome. Hey, I think that the main difference between these decks is who they are aimed at. Pioneer sells most of their top tier stuff to clubs and venues, hence the not many revolutionary changes, they try to stick to what worked for 15 years and not deviate so much from it, that people cannot get used to them in 2 minutes when showing up to play on them. On the other hand Denon is more willing to revolutionize and put in as many technologic advances as possible, and they also take good care of earlier products as well (firmware updates keep on coming out for the SC5000, with the SC6000 screen it could easily be possible to have the master deck view on top that you mentioned in the video). I think if you can play on a deck, you can basically play on all of them, however, if you buy Pioneer, you miss out on many creative options the Denons have. I would go for the Denons.

@@DJPhilHarris If they released a 3000 that was feature packed (like Denon) they would alienate the Pro DJs that expect to turn up to an event and start working regardless of what Pioneer deck was available. Once 3000’s become the default, I believe firmware upgrades and Recordbox updates will add features worth DJ’s ditching their old decks. @@DJPhilHarris In my humble opinion Rekordbox software is far easier and superior. Most artist riders ask for CDJs and this isn’t going to change for years. Pioneer has done an excellent job with its mechanical Jog wheel. The SC5000s are too heavy. Beat count up or down to cue point. and The Beat jump/loop jump behaves in a logical implementation. Beat jump issues have been brought up to Denon for a few years now. The cue and start buttons pioneer uses are better. Essentially what I need and want the CDJ do it in strides while the SC5000s are just not there. Denon was taking too long to answer a waveform display software glitch which still hasn’t been fixed. There a couple things I still don’t like with pioneer units, but getting the software right is a basic requirement for DJs in the digital age.

For the price of the nxs3000's you could get the sc6000/m setup, a prime 4 and a prime go and still have enough to go on holiday ! I have a prime 4 and it has so much going for it. I also found I got more creative on it and find it more versatile to use. (previously had pioneer xdj-rx). I have also just got a prime go which is great fun too and so much easier to have a quick mix while sitting on the sofa. 😄 You make great content so would it not make sense for you to have the option to be able to show things on different setups so it can appeal to more viewers? An Sc6000 with an Sc6000m for general mixing and scratching videos/tutorials, a Prime 4 for your mobile gigs and a Pioneer DDJ1000 (or similar) for showing stuff on that platform and keeping you familiar with 'club standard'. This gives you way more options to produce content going forward too. Although you may want to spend the 6k all on one rig you may want to think about what would be best for your business too. Another thing is that as your channel attracts lots of newer and younger DJ's and they might be looking at getting a prime 2 or 4 eventually (especially as they come down in price on the 2nd hand market) so using that equipment would resonate more with them. They are not likely to be spending 6 grand anytime soon. Just some thoughts for you, I hope it helps. Good luck with your decision.

Get the 2000 setup. It’s club standard. Most clubs are not going to upgrade if they have a working club system. I’m not.a big fan of the nexus system because controllers do so much more and give goo more bang for your dollar. If you’re a traveling dj Phil you should always bring your own controller because when you get to the club you don’t know the condition of the decks you’re about to play on and more importantly what firmware updates they have. I did a club gig once the decks and mixer were horrible. I ended up using my spare controller and happy I always take it with me on every gig.

The 2000s are real CDJ’s they load CDs into the turntables as well. The 3000 are just turntables, no loading Cd’s and you could probably get a killer deal on a great pair. I’ve used the 2000’s for years and now own a set of Denon 5000M’s for about two years and I absolutely love them! Technically it is a no-brainer to me. The 6000’s are way more advanced, future proof and allow for much more creativity and workflow improvements. The double deck functionality and WiFi capability complete the package! I have used both Pioneer and Denon in many live settings, sometimes even in a mixed set and for more than 90% of the time I choose Denon for a live mix or mashup! I do understand your argument on wanting to own and familiarize yourself with the club standard. However, when you are already used to NXS2 you will have no problem with the 3000 when playing around with it for the first time. Too little changes and improvement, especially for that price! I have nothing to gain by having the CDJs at home. I personally would like to see you get the Denons. Due to the pricing and abundance of features, moving forward I think more of your subscribers will be using them. The main features on both are similar enough that it won’t matter. I’m no professional by a long shot so the tech side of things is largely lost on me, but the Denons are easy and fun to use, with a superior build quality than the 5000s. I got DJ on CDJ3000 since it came out last year. I’m in China, working for one of the biggest Pioneer dealers here. So I got the decks and play on them very early. In my opinion the CDJ3000 might be more stable and of course more global, but somehow the Pioneer went conservative this time. When it comes to functions the CDJ3000 lose and apparently Denon SCs have more abilities such as Cloud Libraries(sadly we can’t use cloud in China due to network problems) and more. Although CDJ3000 has brand new MPU unit and runs really fast, it is a great DJ player but it just can’t be defined as THE NEXT GENERATION DJ player. Just like PS4 Pro isn’t the PS5. Looking forward to see Pioneer become pioneer again.

I have the Denon prime 4 myself and I absolutely love them, I’ve used rekordbox before but the engine prime works just as good and if you really wanna use rekordbox the Denon decks work with rekordbox too. The streaming in combination with multiple decks works great for me, if i get a request I don’t know or I still have to analyse I use the 3rd or 4th deck to listen to the song and analyse it while I can still continue my set of the other two decks. I would totally recommend Denon.

I have the Denons and after a year of using them, my biggest complaint is the accuracy of the hot cues. It's just not on point. Sometimes it's on, sometimes its off. It's not a beat grid thing, it's how you strike them. Gotta be dead center most of the time. Pioneer, I never had this problem, well at least with the CDJ 2000NXS2. Always on point. Next complaint is although you can stream with the Denons you can't organize the music. Last but not least, the resale value on Denon equipment is horrible.

Pioneer all day long bro, your used to that eco system and they won't change from the standard unless venues start putting them in and if I'm honest that won't happen for a while due to the pandemic. Venues won't have the money to be upgrading dj equipment when we all go back to it, pioneer are solid, great sound quality and the layouts familiar to what you already know. (WARNING, semi-long post) As a SC6000 owner, I'll add a few things to yours lists that I have encountered since buying my Denon (note: I do not have the mixer or any of the CDJ setup; my set-up is a DDJ1000 with the SC6000 connected to it). A few more pros for the Denons is that: 1) there are more slots for a USB (3 total) and they are "protected" and not sticking straight up where someone might hit the USB stick or pull it out, 2) the Denons can also have an internal storage device so you won't need to constantly bring a USB, you can save songs onto the internal device and play them later, 3) the SC6000s (not SC6000M) are electronic platters like your current controller and the CDJs are mechanical, this may be a personal preference but sometimes those mechanical jog wheels may require you exert more force onto them than you would like (to each their own about this one). Now some cons: 1) as with anything new, learning how to operate the Denons when you've been using Pioneer 5ever will be a HUGE learning curve; don't want to go into details to keep this post as short as possible, but it's not gonna be a smooth transition learning a new company's gear, 2) Denon's Engine Prime is in its infancy and needs A LOT LOT LOT of work done on it before it can contend with Rekordbox and Serato (the Denon gear can't even control Engine Prime and play music like you can with your controller and Serato) (extra tid bit here: the Denon set-up is actually a certified Serato attachment and if you were to hook it up to your laptop, you could play music from your Serato library through the SC6000s and mixer; take that info how you want). *inhales deeply* Now the main question I think you kind of need to answer is: WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR 'DJ CAREER?' Do you want to be the next Guetta and play at clubs, pool parties, bars, Ultra, Tomorrowland, etc? Then the CDJ set-up is definitely the path to pick (note: most clubs more than likely won't have the 3000s for a least a year or two I feel as their current CDJ 2000 NX2s are working without problem). Are you wanting to do events like corporate parties, birthdays, frat parties, weddings, etc.? Then the Denons are more than likely the path to pick. All DJs that fall into this category rave about your Denon pros #4, 5, and 6; as well as my pro #2, but mostly on the STREAMING CAPABILITY. I'm gonna stop here.

Hello fron France ( and sorry for my bad english lol), a Denon setup cost 3090 for 4 players( double layer) so I think it's not fair to compare it to the Pioneer set up ( only two player so to be fair you must take 4 cdj3000 to have the same set up) if you think that the mixer of pionner is better than the denon , so take the denon players and the pioneer mixer it will be cheaper than the entire pioneer set up and anyway you will have more for your money.

As a pro DJ, started back in 1985, who have only been using hardware, as in never controller/laptop, I can give you my reasons and opinion. I stick to Pioneer, because in the end it's what I know, trust and rely on. I've been a Pioneer DJ gear user since the very beginning in 1994/95, and I've never encountered a failure, not once. Neither on my own gear, club installations or on events where rentals are in place. I do around 200 gigs a year under normal circumstances, so there you have my perspective and really the most important reasons. But, I'm also a computer tech guy and love new tech in general, so I got the Denon Prime 4, just because of the fantastic reviews it got, but to my disappointment that was probably the worst experience of my life, mainly because Denon's gear are pure software based and are much more like using a controller/laptop solution, which is another world for me. Software mode on the Prime 4 means no hardware effect, so any external gear you connect, will NOT have access to effects, as it's only for the internal players. NOT what I expected on a $2000 all in one unit. Lacking features I depend on, like CDJ mode and setting cue points in addition to hot cues. No CDJ mode means that I can't set accurate cue points on the fly, as vinyl mode really don't even come close, and I have no interest in setting cue points in advance hoping they will be where I need them to be when I need them. Talking 1000's of tracks here. I want to be free to play however two songs fit in the moment, because I'm in control. The jog wheels! The ones on Denon are BIG & HEAVY pieces of solid metal and spin for an eternity, so I get why they need pitch bend buttons. The feel of a mechanical Jog Wheel like on the Pioneer pro gear are vastly superior to those capacative ones, even for me who don't scratch and only use vinyl mode for effects, like spin backs, and then I switch back to CDJ mode. ...and that's when I play digital which is the main way I play, but as recent as in October last year I played 8 vinyl gigs, yeah, real vinyl, and I don't mind spinning that way on gear where it's the natural way to do it. Different gear, different expectations. About the WiFi, the onboard analysis, dual decks and Hot cue buttons. They all sound great, and for some DJ's they probably are, but not for me and not for most pro DJ's who truly engage in the gig they playing. * Preparations are done in advance, and I NEVER play music I don't know, unless it's a private party and then I can hook up my phone and play from Spotify, but that's happened ONCE in 35 years, when a wedding couple changed their dance last minute, hours into the night. On all private events I require the hosts to send me a list of their most wanted tracks, and the music they absolutely don't want me to play, and that's enough. * During the last 2 years, I've done +200 days on a 24 hour party cruiser, and guess what, on the see there's no internet what so ever, the same goes for true underground events, two or three stairs down. That's not gonna change in the time I'v got left as a DJ. * I've only been using 2 decks since I started, and only for fun, because I can, and when available at clubs, I use a third deck. Any pro DJ I know who really use 3/4 decks, require personal control over all of them, which you don't have controlling two tracks using one deck. The ONLY single reason I can think of, is that one deck quit, and you could survive the night with the deck you have left. I have a third deck available in case that would happen. * Hot Cue buttons are placed where they should be on the CDJ-3000's, for many reasons. First, I as many others, often rest the side of my hand on the side of the jog wheel when pitching. Second, buttons should always have one function only. Third, the placement of anything below the jog wheel are at risk of drink spill from idiot DJ's and and dancing VIP's in the booth. It's 90% risk that precisely that area will be affected. It's bad enough to have to open up a player to quick fix a stuck/sticky cue/play/pause button or the pitch fader, but a whole pad section???? Not gonna happen. That's the difference between personal gear you care about, and club installations no one cares about. Real world truths, unfortunately. The CDJ-3000 also have the Hot Cue buttons placed under the wave form in a way that the position of the Cue point are positioned over the actual button you will use to execute each Hot cue. Time to end this very long post :) . The overall intuitivity and familiarity between models and generations within the Pioneer family of DJ gear is unmatched. If you learn on one modell, you can play on any. There won't be any surprises and you won't need a manual or KZbin to find out how a player, or mixer, works. Ask any Denon fan how to switch to horizontal wave forms on the Prime 4, and how they found out :) . 2 last things. Price or cost. Everyone knows the price, but only pro's seems to bother about the cost, and with the used value of Pioneer gear, Pioneer pro gear probably have the lowest cost of all brands. Longevity: My NXS2 setup, after 4 years it still looks and works like brand new, and I still have CDJ-500's CDJ-500s's, CDJ-1000Mk3's and Pioneer mixers from every generation still working just perfect. I have several recent videos on my channel showing me playing sets on them. That's all about fun and sentimental value, but the fact I can do it is priceless to me, because it brings out years of good and fun memories. You asked for it, there you have it. Cheers!

@@DJPhilHarris Well, time is all I have for he moment, and if I can provide a personal perspective and info to a colleague to make a well informed decision before spending an arm and a leg, it's time well spend. I wish you good luck and I'm pretty sure you'll be satisfied with the choice you make. If the gear suites you, both the Denon and the Pioneer setups are at the forefront of what you can get. It's more about finding out the cons and pros and weigh them against your own preferences. Tech specs are easy to list, but the other stuff like intuitiveness, feel of the buttons and jog wheels, personal workflow and things like that is hard to measure. For me the Pioneer workflow is on point, and gives me so much more choices of how and on which gear I can use my music. The number of existing devices compatible within the Pioneer eko system, including laptops with software, players, mixers, external effects, DJ samplers, external pad controllers (also working with CDJ's) and Rekordbox DJ. In saying that every club I worked in had a different mixer so there was always the small learning curve to get over. The only standard was Pioneer 1200 turntables which in most clubs had 4. Knowing that you would always have them gave you the confidence that no matter the mixer you had some familiarity. i would go for denon as denon controller ar more fun for mixing and porformance pad are like controller and i think controller user should go with denon.at the end i have a question for all can we use pioneer mixer and denon cdj?

I think pioneer is the best. It's club standard and if you are a professional dj than you have to have that..😎😎😎

Nonsense argument. Professionals can use Denon gear just fine likewise, don't worry. That 'club standard' marketing standard is getting more and more obsolte.

dang lol, and I'm just here looking at upgrading to the DDJ-1000 from my 400 :D Idk Phil, follow your heart. but being able to scroll through the song that's currently playing does sound badass. I'm only used to 2 decks so that's actually one of the reasons i was looking to upgrade to four, so i can load the current track to 3 or 4 and scroll through if i needed to xD

Hi Phil, I have been thinking about the same things. Why not get the Denon SC6000 players with a pioneer 900nxs2 mixer? I know that some features wil not work but the current mixer x1850 is not up to par with the dim-900nxs2. Maybe wait to see if Denon announces anything at nam 2021?

Oh really, what features will not work?

The beat grid info is not being send to the mixer. So you depend on the mixer detecting the bpm itself. Maybe you have to get used to this

Get a ddj 1000, have basically club gear at half the price of the denons again? And most of the benefits of the denons (cue/performance pads, streaming and so on)?

He clearly stated he wanted some cdjs not another comtroller

Yeah the thing is I wanted to make the jump up to pro level controller. I already have dj decks that are very similar to those.

I know that might seem illogical

@@DJPhilHarris The DDJ1000 has mechanical platters straight off the CDJ range. I bought the DDJ-800 because I knew I would be getting a "pro" setup fairly soon after but the DDJ-1000 feels identical to the CDJ range and not like a controller at all due to the platters.
