Well… I love my S11 and my S9…. And I like using my laptop as well… However… When I set out on my journey a decade ago I said to myself that I don’t ever want to stand in front of a set and not know how to use it! I own 4 setups but none like that, so this video provides a perspective that I really didn’t have in the forefront of my mind, now I do! Thanks!👍🏾

Yeh, I was wondering why it was a nxs2 I thought you had got the djm s11 Your right you don’t really need a sampler 🤷‍♂️ you can always get the djs 1000 dynamic sampler for cdjs, or a Rmx 1000 remix station. Great vid!

Same reason I went with the V10 instead of the S11, I did not want to use the laptop. There is no reason to use 2.3k players with a laptop......... Buy a 600$ controller in that case. You will get better sound in your set up if you use your digital outs instead of the RCAs on the CDJs and mixer. The EFX will be cleaner as well.

now you just need to use the digital out from the CDJs and its perfect ;) BTW: the Cue Link was available on DJM 900 nexus and all that for years, when you LINK your Laptops library. i love that feature! Ill get CDJ3000s because of that feature, as soon as i can afford the upgrade!

Thanks for this! Not many people answer their reason for this debate. I actually like the pads and am ok w HID mode w my DJM S11, however my issue is 4 channel vs 2. The S11 has virtual channels however they are limited in functionality, even more so if you use RBX. Regardless this was helpful.

I AM USING THE WHOLE NEXUS 2 SETUP AND LOVE IT THE NEW CDJS 3000S NEED TO BE DOUBLE LAYER LIKE THE DDJ1000 AND A NEW MIXER LIKE THE DMJ NEXUS2 KEEP ALL THE SAME BUT ADD PADDLES AND MORE NETWORK CONNECTIONS

Think of the HID mode as a different part of your workflow. It's easier in that mode to do all the rekordbox management and track preparation stuff, then once your USB is built, you can switch your decks back into the normal "performance" mode. You could even skip the USB and play the songs over a network connection.

Nexus 900 is shit with turntables but gold with cdj. But s11 is good with both!

You have to e happy with what you get for what you spend. Club Standard or not, your the one that has to be able to use it. I’m happy that you’re happy with that switch. DJM’s take a serious beating day in day out and last for years to come. Now I’ll ask, do you plan on getting a coffin for your new set up or individual cases for transport?

“As you should use CDJ’s” Use them in whatever setup you like. You’re not a lesser DJ if you use serato and your computer. The top 100 Dj’s in the world all have their laptop with them at all time. Producers don’t. Big difference and anyone who argues otherwise is probably the latter or wants to be.

I’m torn between DJM-900nxs2 and DJM-V10. I feel like V10 would be an overkill for what I’m doing. It would be great if pioneer made a 4 channel version of V10, right? What’s your opinion?

I'm waiting for that..could be strange they keep 900nxs2 than they've updated all their roster..and V10 (IMHO) can't be 900nxs2 replacement..

Yeah well that was the reason why you could not do stuff on the mixer.its full functionality was with a laptop.becuse if you hit the wave form in rekordbox you can preview tracks.but like you said the reason for stand alone is so it works as stand alone

Dude, I played a gig last night and the club had this S11 mixer.... It's not standalone as the man's said, and if you have a rekordbox USB it won't work unless you have a laptop running rekordbox.

the club standards dilemma looool. u dont need CLUB STANDARDS SETUP to do your dj work if u feel good with any setup u have then go for it. for me i never will use that called club standards for a lot of reason's. the main reason is that they miss a lot of functions that controllers can offer. stay away from what other djs say ( use this setup just because its the most expensive or the best ) it might be best for him but not for u. not because top djs use a certain setup so u must use them too. research for the best that can make u do your best

A course can be helpful, but I’d just recommend jumping on your decks & learning by trial & error. You can always check out the numerous KZbin videos while you’re teaching yourself.

Those are 3 very good reasons to make the switch, you're paying a lot of money for a mixer so it has to be able to do all what you had in mind to do with it and the S11 didn't :-)
