I absolutely love CDs man. It's so nice when you've collected a bunch of them and can display them next to/on top of each other, whenever I look at them it is just a great feeling. I'm 15 year old so I don't have a lot of money and that's the reason why I don't buy vinyls, but when I'm older I wanna collect vinyls too. Remember guys: buying music, in whatever way, is much better for the artist than streaming it or, even worse, illegally downloading it. Buying your favorite albums doesn't cost that much (if we're talking about buying them digitally or CDs) and can support the musician a lot.

For finding/exploring new music, streaming is great, but it’s when you rlly love something (or it’s marked down in price at the local goodwill) that you get a physical copy (vinyl/CD/cassette). It has that collector element to it that’s always prevalent in fan culture, yk? Not to mention the sonic differences per each medium
@_Opalescence2 жыл бұрын
I mean, there are sonic differences that are relevant but usually they're just...you know, worse. Listening to an album on a vinyl record is fun and all but it does sound noticeably lower quality. Plus it skips and crackles and hisses, which is super fucking annoying. Cassettes and 8tracks sound better but they also have a stupidly low shelf life because magnetic tape tends to degrade so quickly.
@MauricioJara2 жыл бұрын
There’s just something so special about physical formats of music, especially vinyl. There’s something for me to hold my hands on, and look back at, reflecting on the memories that album gave me. And while listening to an album, I can look through the art within the sleeves and cover for it.
@user-ejxomyq2 жыл бұрын
I agree, I hate how people digitalize everything. It’s fun to hold something physical and cool looking again. Kinda like books, you’re more engaged when using something physically than on-line. All this on a home sound system, no bluetooth. There’s just something about listening to music on these old physical and niche formats that’s so fun and interesting, even if the audio has no low frequencies and the rest is covered in scratches and artifacts, we just say that the piece of media has “gained character with aging like fine wine”. Hence why if we wanna listen to music nicely, we buy CDs of it. My best vinyl memory came today. I was shopping in Target and i saw TPAB so I picked it up and payed for it. I then walked into Marshal's, which was where my mom was shopping. I was looking for her when I walked over to the fitting rooms, and the female worker had her coworker friends there. They struck a conversation up and we talked for 7ish minuets, and I looked down at my valued album, and I looked at the workers and in that moment i decided to donate it to them, so I asked the group "hey, are any of you a fan of Kendrick Lamar?" And 2/3 said no, the 1 that said yes, I handed TPAB to her and I backed up. Her coworker friend said "wait why did you do that?" I said "why not? Have a nice day." I have never seen someone so excited over a vinyl. Thanks for reading

You actually spent money on a copy of TPAB? Were you drunk?

I use CD or MP3 because they are affordable and don't have ads. I also just like the interaction of popping in a cd. Mp3 is just for making playlists.

I like vinyl records and cds. I like cds for their durability and the fact that I can use them in my car. Plus they’re cheaper than dirt. I feel they get a bad wrap that’s pretty undeserving.

The process of creating your own playlists goes back way further than cassettes. Record changers that allowed you to stack multiple records to be played in succession have existed since 1927, and before that some portable record players had compartments store multiple records inside. Later on with the success of the 45 small record booklets with handles became popular amongst teens in the 50s, and after that 8 tracks were the first true first form of general consumer tape that people would create playlists on

I love cassettes because of how accessible they are. I have so many from small bands that would otherwise be unable to put out physical music. You can get the players for dirt cheap and you can make your own easily

Cassettes would really be the superior form of music storage if only magnetic tape didn't have such a pitifully short shelf life.

Long story short, most CDs are going to give you the best quality possible, vinyls are great to listen to original mixes and not modern blown out mixes, they also have their own tone since it's literally a needle dragging across a disk. Vinyls also got amazing covers and custom disks.
