When I was much younger and totally in love with horses I had a huge wall picture that looked just like the tan and white horse that you videoed that was running and then stopped with its mane blowing in the breeze. Im watching this whole hike over again. I had gone up in the mountains on a camping outing for the month of Oct. here in 2022 but I contracted Covid. Only saw a few hikers and a few animals. Bummer. Not a fun time. At least the month was almost over. The only fun part of this whole thing is getting to watch all your hikes again. And loving everyone. Thanks and Blessings, Teri Hope

I'm so pleased to have found your channel! As a novice backpacker in my early 50s, I'm so inspired by you all. And as a southern Wyoming resident, let me be the first to thank you for calling them by their proper name, Pronghorn, rather than "antelope." I'm guessing the prairie chickens were either sharp-tailed grouse, or maybe a sage grouse? Looking forward to binge watching your previous videos and following your CDT journey. Well done crossing the basin!

Wyoming is so flat snd next to no trees so it’s super windy, hot snd dry or cold snd dry wind. Lots of vows snd wild horses and prong horn. I had lunch in Rawlings once. It as a super old diner. The booths were so old that the springs were shot so our table was about chin level. Good was good but we were giggling. We wanted to ask for a booster seat or a phone book to sit on Luke we were little kids. Lol. But lots of good memories in Wyoming

This was amazing! 👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Yes, Wyoming redefines 'harsh environment '. But you survived it with grace, grit, and an unending sense of humor.....even with dear Pesky showing up. 🤣. She has tenacity! You have to give her that. 😊. Congratulations on surviving the Great Basin. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎉. Loved seeing the stunningly majestic wild horses. That they can survive out there in unbelievable. And your visual documentary on the survival rate of the CDT signs was funny. Not too many left standing after the wind and cattle have beat them up. But I imagine, even if they used steel posts, the cattle would flatten them after using them for itching posts. Anyway, you survived the cold and the wind and yucky water. Again, my hat is off to you all. And that is with respect for what you are accomplishing, not because the wind ripped it off my head. 😆 💨. Can't wait for next week! Take care and good luck! 👍

Just so y'all know. The CDT is 3,000 miles long. Most of it travels at high elevations (snow, ice, wind, fire, tree-falls, water/flooding, avalanches, wild animals)…and very few people and only small towns, many 20 or more miles from the trail. It’s relatively inaccessible much of the year. Trail maintenance…it’s complicated…and difficult. Only several hundred hikers attempt to hike it every year, and not many finish it in one season. It's pretty easy to navigate using smartphone apps and/or a GPS if you're experienced using these tools. Compared to other long trails: it's longer, more isolated, less people/less sociable, has grizzly bears, is higher altitude, less water, can be colder and hotter, longer carries between resupply, towns are farther off trail, fewer trail angels or trail magic, you need to hike more daily miles to finish in one season, forest fires can be a common diversion, there are many alternate pathways to take, a typical through hike S to N requires snow/ice training and preparation. The trail probably isn’t actively maintained this year due to COVID-19. Learn, donate or volunteer here: continentaldividetrail.org
