Part 4: • CeCe Peniston on Monic...
Part 1: • CeCe Peniston on Being...
--------
In final clip, CeCe Peniston described getting married at 21 only to divorce a year later. CeCe explained that she was inexperienced and very much in love at the time, but getting her record deal in the middle of her new marriage complicated the relationship. She also described having five miscarriages with the same person and the mental and physical toll the miscarriages had on her. CeCe also talked about accusing Lizzo of plagiarism, clarifying that she simply wanted the singer to pay homage for using her signature adlibs on "Juice." However, CeCe claimed she got "a piece of a piece" of Lizzo's single and was taken care of.

That’s crazy, When j first heard Juice I knew that she sampled Finally. That was the reason why I fell in love with Juice. But to find out that they didn’t clear the sample/tried to act like they didn’t sample her is mind blowing. I was born in 86 but I knew the original song right off the top. I guess it’s a generational thing and also musical influences from what your parents was listening too. @iTeacupPanda
@iTeacupPanda 3 жыл бұрын
It's not plagiarism, even she had to correct him on that because if she called it plagiarism Lizzo could sue her. She basically wanted cited as reference of inspiration for the ad-libs. The " Ya-ya-eeeee " bits, which aren't something Cece created and Cece only did something similar to in the 90's but . . . ad-libs like that have filled music way before Cece was a thing? They paid her off to keep her happy so it didn't mess with Lizzo's image with her trying to raise awareness about something that isn't even a real thing, just a delusion because if someone doesn't look into it or just wants to cosign on something to hate on someone it still hurts said person's image and marketability or could put people who like or respect or believe the accusing party off / make them not want to work with her people. ( Don't get me wrong. Cece's song is great, she looks amazing, she is severely talented but she wasn't known for those vocalizations because they weren't exactly that big of something to grab onto and point out. ) Honestly if ad-libs like that were something you could sue for even if they're not that similar Cyndi Lauper or Alanis Morisette or Tina Turner or someone would've sued Cece. LOL Minnie Riperton would've been able to sue Mariah Carey, etc.

@@iTeacupPanda You seem overly pressed about this, but Vlad is clearly instigating. You can’t “plagiarize” something that isn’t even _words._ I feel like folks in these comments wouldn’t be throwing around the word “thief” if their favorite artist sang that. I’m glad they settled it though. Cece is a queen.

@@iTeacupPanda All of what you said was great but it really all boils down to if in fact, adlibs are protected by copyright. Assuming they are not, then no you can't use the word plagiarism. If they were though, this instance would be applicable! I recognized that part of Lizzo's song IMMEDIATELY, so much that I thought it was cleared.

I love her giving testimony about "changing her feelings" about the miscarriages. God can and will use the tragedies and difficult times in our lives if we give it over, "Let go and let God". She speaks about giving joy and healing hearts -- her music has certainly done that for me. I had the pleasure of meeting her years ago in Ft. Lauderdale, at which time she was judging a pageant. I can't recall if I gave her a hug or simply shook her hand, but it was cool to be able to express to her that I was a long-time fan. Go 'head on, Ms. CeCe!

HeyTasha that last part needs to be said and females/women need to do better and support each other regardless. Women don’t even support each other after learning of other women’s trials. The female gender seems to be deprived of love in general. Wake up ladies because we have no support if we have no sisterhood or female unity. That’s why our gender has been oppressed for so long and used to it living with Stockholm syndrome and society turning a blind eye to the injustices females are dealt.
