Complex interdepenence in international relations and international political economy is a concept put forth by robert keohane and joseph nye in the 1970s to describe the emerging nature of the global political economy. The concept entails that relations between states are becoming increasingly deep and complex. These increasingly complex webs of economic interdepenence undermines state power and elevate the influence of transnational non-state actors. These complex relationships can be explored through both the liberalism and realism lenses and can later explain the debate of power from complex interdepenence. Thankyou so much ma'am for the lecture 🙏🏻 Power and Interdependence first published in 1977 and posited a radically comprehensive explanation of the mechanics driving world affairs-“power politics” on one hand and “complex interdependence” on the other hand. This widely influential book reexamined the military and economic interests of state and non-state actors, and in an argument made before the end of the Cold War, the authors broadened the prevailing realist worldview of the time and anticipated many of the developments in our modern era of globalization. With a new preface by the authors and a foreword by Fareed Zakaria that looks at world affairs after the Cold War, the terrorist attacks of September 11, and the global financial crisis, Power and Interdependence is required reading for all students of international relations.

Power and Interdependence, a book written by Robert O Keohane and Professor Joseph S. Nye in 1977 focuses on Power Politics in International Relations. This work deliberates upon it whether the focus on military interest alone, is sufficient in international relations or not.
