---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I show in this video one way to approach a plain design cover for a motorcycle seat in the case of not having a sewing machine.
To get a 'non-sewing cover' I have taken advantage of stretchy side of vinyl material. The most difficult part is on front part of the cover because of its 'rounded convex shape'. I would have rather did a 'sewn insert' on this front portion as it comes in the original design. But, for purpose of the video I overlooked this option.
To get this difficult contour it was necessary stretch the vinyl from 6 to 8 cm on this side and the same on left end.
The first important key is stretch the material lengthwise and attach with glue both centers front and rear end. Afterwards, it would be easier to trim, paste glue and handle the sides in order to get the desired shape.
Before this process it would be advisable to put the seat under the sunrays for a while. The material turns to be more pliable. On the contrary the use of a 'hair dryer' is also useful. Nevertheless, it was not necessary because it was stretched just enough to give the shape. I 'used' the 'hair dryer' just to consider the option.
The yellow glue adheres very strong, and it is not necessary the use of staples.
Just, use staples and no glue at all in case of having a 'pneumatic stapler'.
I hope you find this information useful!

WOW… A video without BS or music. How refreshing…I don’t know what country this video was made in, but that adhesive is not available here in the United States. It is not barge glue, or 3M, or DAP weldwood ..I’ve never seen Adhesive act like that .. it grips, it seems to be dry, and there is no mess that gets dragged onto the outside surface of the cover as his hands work with both sides of the cover touching the glue then touching the surface that will show, and no mess, no glue transfer…Does anybody know the brand name of that adhesive? Not a guess, the actual name?

I bought this glue from a local supplier here in Mexico where I am located. In the USA you could find similar products, such as: Petronio's contact cement (brushable), Dap Weldwood, Landau top&trim adhesive (sprayable and brushable)

There's a big gap between you removing the foam and starting the covering. What happens in between? why is the foam a different colour? Youve definately missed out some of this process..
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 2 жыл бұрын
In fact, the main point of this video is to show how to vinyl-wrap in a plain way the motorcycle seat. The grey foam is put over to erase some irregularities on the foam surface. If the seat is in good condition it will not be necessary. There is a related video that shows this car headliner material (5 mm thick foam backed fabric) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJnPaKKHlt2Lf6s

It is not necessary to cover/spread with glue the top side of the seat. Usullay, that is how the covers come from factory. What is important is the fastening of vinyl edges all around to the frame edge. It could be by using 'yellow glue' or directly staples. Both ways work out. I have shown both options.

I have no idea why he drew the red arrows on the seat and yellow arrows on the fabric- he never used them.

I can clear it up. I drew those arrows to indicate the direction of vinyl stretching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rH2xZKCimb-IqaM

Sometimes videos without talking are so much more informative, then listening to the nonsense of a bunch of useless chatter, although some people may not know what tools are involved, I might suggest a simple before list, then go about your task, I do custom work as well, and I love the pink clothes pin.
