I've been watching LSU football for nearly 20 years. Cecil was the best running back to play there. He was just an idiot who thought he was untouchable from the law.

I watched the games he played in '97. I don't see one trait you'd need to be a great tailback that he lacked. He wasn't too short or too tall, ideal weight, good enough moves and cutting, but he had such great body lean and balance, ran harder than his weight, back in those days they'd say during the broadcast "he runs behind his pads" or "he's a downhill runner", (it's as if he has the advantage of running downhill into a tackler every time). James Brooks of Auburn, the Chargers, and Bengals, was considered by many NFL defensive players to be the back that ran so damn hard and was hard to tackle for a smaller back, Cecil is like that but bigger. And above average speed. Yeah , he had it all, physically. He was like peak "beast mode" Marshawn Lynch but with more speed
@grandsonofAlbertJohn4 ай бұрын
5:57. What great shot. His body lean, ability to cut back, and at nearly full speed. And he was known for his power.😂 You could see just by watching the few games he got a lot of of carries that he was special

Name a major college rb who played in 7 games and still make the NFL? He had, perhaps, the shortest career of any rb in college. a lot of people forget he only played 3 and 1/4 games at LSU before breaking his leg at vandy- that's all! 3 games almost 600 yards . the other games at McNeese. Off the field actions kill careers. Reply ·

During a televised game between Dallas and Detroit, statisticians surveyed at what point each running back was needing to make their first elusive move. Barry was 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage and Emmitt was 2 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. To answer your question regarding Dallas OL in 1991, Kevin Gogan, Nate Newton, Erik Williams and Mark Tuinei. All of who were very good Olinemen who were experienced veterans.

Cecil Collins was arguably one of the most talented running backs in the history of L.S.U. football. He posessed that rare combination of speed and brute power. It's truly unfortunate that he chose to engage in activity which was detrimental to both his amateur and professional careers. Life is about making choices, and, sadly for Cecil, his choices led to some harsh consequences. I truly wish him the best upon his release from the penal system.

It was unfortunate Cecil kept Cecil from being an all-time LSU great. He should be mentioned right there next to Kevin Faulk, but he’s not. Jimmy Johnson also gave him a chance with the Dolphins. He had what nobody could teach him, god given talent and he still couldn’t stay out of trouble. What could have been. 😢

There's very short running backs, and taller backs like Eddie George. There's 180 lb backs, (used to be), and big lumbering 240 lb short yardage backs. Cecil the Diesel was the ideal height, weight, had great body lean and balance, ran a lot harder than his weight. Had enough moves, good speed. One of those guys that had basically all the physical traits at a near perfect level for a college running back. He had it all. So much fun to watch, run people over, make cuts, had breakaway speed. What a waste.

I met him at Ruby Tuesday's in the Cortana mall in BR and he was eyeing my friend Summer who was with me and just a good friend. He ended up coming to hang out once or twice at the apt we all hung out at. She didn't hang out with him more bc she said she felt a lil uncomfortable. I kept saying I think I heard something about him kinda important I should mention but can't remember what it was. My cousin ended up telling me what that "something" was and it was kinda important. He didn't hang out again after that and then the rest is history. I remember him being built like a tree trunk tho.

Barry Sanders lost yards because he had a horrible OL. The fact he gained yards at all is a testament to his abilities. If he had ran behind the Cowboys OL he would have ran for 2000 yards every year. And Emmitt Smith, who did run behind the Cowboys OL, one of the best OL's in the history of the NFL, didn't come close to 2000 yards. The closest he came was a little more than 200 yards. Mostly he was in the 1300 yard range. He would have been slaughtered running behind Barry's OL.

The first game LSU played after Cecil got hurt was against Florida. Do you honestly think Bob Stoops would not have come up with a scheme to stop Cecil? In hindsight, it was a blessing Cecil got hurt and didn't play against Florida, because it forced LSU to do something other than hand the ball to Cecil 25-30 times.

To analyze an Oline one must not consider the best player, rather the worst. An Olin is like a chain, it is only as strong as it's weakest link. Having 2 pro bowlers means nothing if the other 3 or 4 players are mediocre. I don't think you understand anything about playing the game, you just know how to watch. Nothing more pathetic than listening to someone analyze football players when they themselves lacked the balls to get on a field and hit.
