We need to study manipulation. For example, why are we so easily manipulated. Why can people with charisma prompt us to short circuit our critical think?

Joe Martin very well, but if you have an audience, which is derived from Latin meaning to hear. You might want to speak up.

Cecil you were friends with Jim Jones; and you did not warn the people. What did you want from him?

Very simple actually. Those who manipulate know how to recognize the needs and empty voids in potential victims. Those victims usually have had experiences that have deep seeds of rejection, usually by people closest to them.Usually parents in childhood, then friends in adolescents. The manipulator feeds those starving parts of the persons psyche, not fully, just enough to keep the walking forward. When in the act of walking forward it turns into the donkey with the carrot scenario.

Very, very accurate! This is what it's like with emotional domestic violence.

Although someone with a really tragic, and emotional event such as witness to murder, rape, can also create what I like to call soul holes.

a couple questions for you to ponder on since you have done "extensive research" on the subject. What year was the Peoples Temple founded? What was the primary goal of the Peoples Temple? And why did the Government classify Martin Luther King as a communist? Lastly, when was the civil rights bill passed? Link all of this together and you will see a different scenario.

You don't suppose, do you, that there may be some aspect of human nature in which we want to do good for others, even to such extent that we may be willing to sacrifice some part of our rationality in order to see this act to fruition?
