except this isn't Mozart, this is Rossini. And it was written almost 30 years after Mozart's Marriage of Figaro. Different time, different composer, different country, different language, different opera. Other than that, it's the same.

Her ornamentations are superb and they are never gratuitous. I do prefer a much more pronounced "mmmaa!" (the Italian word for 'but') than I hear in this performance 🎭!

Her extras are absolutely astounding and absolutely in the spirit of the music. Her arpeggios are almost unimaginably difficult for most people to execute.

Traditionally the singer adds her own ornamentations. Its not a unique thing. I dont think you will ever hear this aria the same way twice by even the same singer, much less by different artists. Her version of this is amazing. I too would have preferred a stronger “ma”. My favorite version will always be Marilyn Hornes though.

Amazing coz most of Mezzo-sopranos develop their voices at late 20's or early 30's but Cecilia is just so amazing

She was also at an advantage for having a mother who was a singer and knew good technique and trained her well from the time she was a little girl. That’s not to say that Cecilia wasn’t born with talent and interest, she was, but she also got free DAILY training and privileges most singers didn’t/don’t have. So it doesn’t surprise me that her voice was well-developed at such a young age. How many of us had live-in teachers who worked on our voices every day from the time we were young?

I look at the music sheet and think this is impossible to sing. Cecilia Bartoli however adds some more ornaments and ultra complicated passages because it's too easy for her at 22 years old.

Cette extraordinaire cavatine trouve sa perfection avec Térésa Berganza. La ligne de chant y est fluide, sans à-coups, sans fioritures qui masquent l'impossibilité d'y accéder ; le crescendo rendu y est pour ces raisons juste admirable, parfait. Rossini, coquin, défiant Paisiello, a justement composé cet effet pyrotechnique incroyable pour cette raison.
