Does the sea really freeze as it’s continuously moving🥶
@katelijnesommen6 ай бұрын
@@lynns609The whole sea will never freeze, but as shown in the video the water close to the shore can definitely develop an ice coat (from thin slush to actual closed ice) when it's cold enough - but it really does need to be quite cold for a while, because you're right, the sea does move all the time, and the salt also lowers the freezing temperature of the water. So if there is ice on the sea you can be sure it's damn cold!
@dod23046 ай бұрын
@@lynns609 obviously it does! 😉 I guess you didn't notice at the beginning of the video when she took out bedding to air on their deck. Their adorable cabin is right on the "sea", though technically I guess that's a fjord. Anyway, in that shot, all you see is snow and ice. Maybe you're new to the channel and don't know yet where their cabin is, but yes. Also in places near the poles there are ships that have to break through the ice to get to where they need to go. There are cases of ships being stuck in the ice for weeks because they couldn't break through and when they stopped it froze them in place! Can you imagine??!!🥶😱

I have always thought that the people who had the most appealing living arrangement, own two homes. Neither home has to be luxurious. It has to be well made, a comfortable size, easy to open up for an extended stay and easy to close down securely until another time. What I view as an isolated life in Svalbard, might be balanced by more of a village life somewhere else. Best of both worlds. Endless fun to contemplate.

I am so glad that Svalbard will continue being part of your life as well as ours, yours viewers! I also love getting to know the world but it’s so heartwarming to have a home to go back to 😊 Thanks for your videos they make me so happy. Love Grim working as your assistant 😂 And that 14-year-old girl so deserves to be cuddled!

I get the travel + quality time. Something that shook me was, “How old are your parents?” If you see them 1x a year, for me, that was only 9-12 more visits for me.

My parents are in their late 60's so not that old, but I still find it important to spend more time with them now :) So I want to make sure that happens more regularly :)

That's very true if you can only see parents for a couple of days a year. I saw someone talk about how it added up to only seeing their parents for the equivalent of a few weeks worth of days once they'd left home because they only went to see them for brief trips. It triggered them to take longer trips in those last years or their parent's life. I don't think we realise how quickly the years fly by.

My parents are now both older than their own parents were when they died. I’ve already had cancer for the first time. I just focus on spending as much time with them as I can get. I have no family of my own so of they go first I’ll be utterly lost and if I go first it’ll be the ‘wrong way around’ and a lot of grief that they really shouldn’t have at their age. We’re clinging like little barnacles! I first got sick in my thirties and it did a lot of damage. I feel like I’ve spent the whole time since limping along waiting for the next blow instead of being able to breathe and make the most of survival. Survival hurts! Blooming painful. If you are in good health or have a good support system please make the most of it. Those things don’t last forever. Enjoy it while you can.

@Dees3179,I am also a cancer patient.mine has spread so I live from scan to scan.i feel your pain and anxiety because it is my own as well. I try not to live in fear, but it takes a lot of energy.its the reason I love KZbin channels like this one because they take me far away from my life. Am grateful for every breathe and hope for a few more years. Best of wishes to you. You are not alone.
