Mr Chan, I have watched every video on your channel at least 10x's each or more. I love your techniques. you break everything down so detailed that even the tools know what to do. keep the videos coming along. Your channel is perfect the way it is. I am an administrator for a group of 580+ members and a western American auctioneer. I know a thing or two about video design and webdesign and can tell you sir, you don't need to change anything you do. its is as perfect as it can be and do not need to dilute your magical videos to someone else's liking.

@@peterchan3100 I would recommend you create a nice tool display board in the background of your video on the white wall that is portable so you can move, take your tools from that board and name them as you use them and explain more what it's for, I know you do in some videos but if it's the first video they see it would help with repetition and selling them from your store.

New subscriber to your channel.. you truly are a master ! I love Bonsai. My first was a cotoneaster horizontalis that my Japanese Nurse friend gifted me. I now have a cedar of Lebanon seedling that I started from the seeds of a dropped pinecone of a huge cedar of Lebanon that grew at my place of work. I sprouted several seedlings and now have two that I want to train for Bonsai.

Hello! I very much have been enjoying this channel. I think it's a wonderful platform for education on bonsai care, and a great way to get people interested in the topic. I would love to see this channel grow and thrive, and (if you too would like that) I think the best way to do that might be to treat it similarly to one of your trees, metaphorically speaking. One thing especially that I know I would love are organized playlists that follow the journey of specific specimens from first contact onward, in the form of video/maintenance updates. It takes time for growth of course, which can translate to a lot of time between updates- that's why I emphasize organization. If the channel had just slightly more structure to it, it would be easier to follow, and people would love to follow it. If this channel is rather not a top priority I understand- I will still very much enjoy the content. If you are interested in gaining a wider audience though, keep growing! With your good base, you have potential to become a wonderfully structured, professional outlet of information for bonsai enthusiasts and people who have never heard of bonsai alike. Thank you very much for your time and your videos- if I do eventually move to the UK I'll certainly love to visit your greenhouses.

@@HeronsBonsaiUK of course- thank you. I do want to mention that I don't think I emphasized enough how much I love the roots of this channel: Mr. Chan has a professional energy that really gets people interested in the topics he goes over. Even the layouts of this and past videos are quite well put together- I mostly intend to say that the videos themselves could be better grouped together by specific topics here on youtube. I apologize if anything I've said has come across as criticism of Mr. Chan and his presentation- I believe in quite the opposite, him being an intelligent individual with a seemingly natural skill at teaching. My only suggestion is to here on KZbin improve the coherence of his videos, i.e. uploading his teachings into topically organized playlists. That could either be by species; growing methods; products reviews; different aspects of bonsai care (roots, fertilizing, watering, etc.); or better yet all of the above. Most importantly though is to build off of your roots, holding true to the unique and wonderful values in this and all prior videos. Again- apologies for any misunderstanding. I wish you the best, and hope this clarification is helpful! Good day.

Hello mister Chan, I really apreciate your work. But in this specific case something looks strange to me. I have heard that bonsais should reproduce the natural shape of a tree in miniature. In the Mediterranean area we often see pines or cedars with sunshade or umbrella shape. Don't you think it was the intention of the original bonsai creator?
@tinacofactory
@tinacofactory 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think a bonsai should reproduce a natural shape, and I'm not sure if this statement is true whatsoever. But one thing is true, a tree hat a natural shape, a shape that is characteristic. A Pinus Pinea (Mediterranean Pine) or a Cedrus Libani (Libanon Cedar) has a specific shape that makes no sense to try to erase, a good bonsai artist should take this shape and work around it. I think that Mr. Chan in this project is completely wrong: first to neglect the shape (bird's nest) as he says, and work the bark like this; a Cedar has a very delicate skin and takes long time to heal the wounded bark.

@andreasweber1533
@andreasweber1533 4 жыл бұрын
You want to keep the wire on long enough to give the branches a permanent set, so they'll keep the shape after removing the wire. On the other hand you usually want to remove the wire before the branches have grown in thickness so much that the wire cuts ugly scars into the bark. For both you can't really give a specific duration, it depends very much on how fast the tree is growing. If the tree does show visible growth, check the wired area occasionally and take the wire off as soon as you notice it getting too tight.

You know I'm fully convinced bonsai trees do not look anything like real old trees in nature, I have looked at millions of trees in nature and they do not reflect what bonsai artists do with trees in pots. What bonsai does do is show us what trees look like when we draw them in books and cartoons, bonsai reflects almost exactly how we would all draw or paint a tree artistically.
@november8039
@november8039 Жыл бұрын
Bonsai trees do actually reflect trees that grow in nature, particularly trees that have grown in challenging conditions and have developed an interesting character as a result. In fact, yamadori is the act of collecting bonsai material from the wild and I can personally attest to finding trees that would have made a perfect bonsai specimen had they not been too large to move.
@fiddlestickzmuzik
@fiddlestickzmuzik Жыл бұрын
@@november8039 lol yamadori is not man made bonsai as such, anyone can collect trees from nature, nature is the only one who can sculpt trees that special way, man cannot imitate nature accurately, he can try but it's not the same. Nature does not use wires and tools to shape it's trees and plants. it uses the environmental elements only.
