Top Thrill Dragster is iconic not only because it's the first Strata Coaster but also for the eye catching bright Yellow, bright Red, and white. You need bright colors like these to get the attention of not only riders but spectators alike. I say keep the color scheme but freshen things up a bit.

At coatermania, people were given keychains and told to guard them with their lives for 2024 opening day. The keychains actually resembled magnets, one one and one grey facing each other. They sort of loked liked p's. The second top hat is looking more like a possibility.

I think those key chains will be good for the opening event, they'll probably be the first ones to get to ride it. But, as for the logo itself, It kinda lookes like a stylized CP to me... As in maybe a new Cedar Point logo... They're trolling us lol... Again.

@@joshfreund6008 In the near 20 years the original Dragster ran I never once saw the line under 90 minutes. When the new one opens its going to be double that for the first year probably. So if it gives access to a first riders event that skips the line that thing is going to have when it opens to everyone then that's pretty cool!

The position of the triangle of footers is important. It points towards the track not away. It would point away for a tophat or a twisted spike. This is a straight spike with straight track going up the outside of the closest support. As for the crane, it clearly was not for track removal because it left without removing anything. Rumor is they were checking welds. It could just be for attaching new track, but there are rumors (take with a grain of salt) that some insiders are saying they were checking welds for extending the tophat height. If this is true, then both the spike and tophat could be over 500'. Personally, I think the spike will be over 600' so the entire train clears the record. If you remember from the footers, there are two distant footers at angles behind the spike footers. I think these are for diagonal supports that will support a very tall spike.

Well I've seen videos online of the new footers, there are the 3 big footers and a more rectangle looking support that's right in line with where the old track used to be and the 3 footers. I still believe it'll be a 100% large spike on that side But is there a possibility we might see something happen to the other side of the ride? It's unlikely but imagine if somehow they can extend the top hat so they can truly claim 500ft. Or maybe modify the top hat so instead of an air time moment, it can be like an inversion or some kind? Just listing some other ideas incase Cedar Point goes all crazy with this

Okay I figured it out. Dual top hats. The new one will claim the height record. The old one is getting flipped to claim the worlds tallest inversion record. And there will be a spike at both ends of the layout. You heard it here first!

I was thinking this morning.. This process mirrors when TTD first opened in a way... The year before it opened they opened Wicked Twister as a stop gap... the same thing happened this year with Wild Mouse.

@@austintayloradt Yep... It used to sit right where the new grand pavillion is pretty much. It really does mirror that time a whole lot. I can't wait til we actually get it CONFIRMED what's actually going on. TTD has been my favorite coaster since the year it opened.

I don't think cedar point will make a 500 ft. spike because for the ride to get to 500 ft. all riders in the train would have to get passed 500 ft. but if the spike was exactly 500 ft. on the back row or no riders at all would reach the 500 ft. spike. I think they are making the top hat 500 ft. instead of the spike because then all riders make it to the 500ft zone. that's what I think they are doing for top thrill dragster.

It’s improbable for them to raise the support structure on the top hat though. Also, as TPP has said, there is a way for them to run 3 trains with the large spike.

This is Cedar Point! They are originators, not copycats. This isn't a spike. This is something totally new and will be mind-blowing. I say it'll be a space theme, that matches themes of Magnum, Power Tower amd Gemini. Last November, Intamin showed a commercial that displayed their LSM vertical launch(rocket launch). It'll be another ride with multiple records, including speed, height and the 1st coaster over 400 and 500 feet. Tony Clark's cryptic number began with 488. I'd say that's the height and the track is 12 feet off the ground. I'm certain the official announcement will be January 9, 2024 and we'll all think, WOW!!!😉😉

You know, what about a backwards vertical launch up a spike, then it comes down through a bunny hop and a boost, then up the top hat, back down through an airtime hill or overbank+hill into the brakes? Now THAT would be epic and crazy! Im sure there’s a way to make it work capacity wise too. Let’s keep being optimistic and put our faith in Cedar Fair, Intamin to create a new, mind-blowing coaster.

I don't believe there's going to be a 2nd top hat... my reasoning is... the front end of the Triangular formation is aimed TOWARDS the Loading Station. The existing Top Hat formation has the point of the Triangular formation aimed AWAY from the Station. Also the Front of the Triangular formation is Directly BEHIND the Loading Station. Spikes have the same formation. Look at Pantheon ans Toutatis. That formation is exactly the same as the new footer configuration at Dragster. I still think this is a Vertical Spike. If it was a Top Hat.. the Footers would be scooted over oser to Rougarou and Iron Dragon and the front point would aim away from the Station.

It's not an lsm if anything it is an AIR COMPRESSED LAUNCH and that will infact not be a tophat but infact a huge inversion How I know this is because I Heard engineers talk about it and they said that makes the most sense

Zamperla is most likely just making the trains… maybe lending their factory’s to intamin, stuff like that, because zamperla doesn’t have the tech to pull off 500 ft or even something above 200. Also I have a feeling they will change something about that top hat, whether it be the height, the direction your facing, or change king the airtime hill into an inversion of some kind, I feel like that top hat will not be the same as it always has been

I really doubt they can raise the height of the initial top hat. That just seems like a bit much and way to complicated to carry out. Honestly, I don't see how the new Top Thrill Dragster in any way be better than the original since the intense launch was what made it unique! The only possible coaster that can become #1 is another RMC (or Intamin prefab) the same size as or larger than Steel Vengeance and Iron Gwazi.

LSM launches can get up to 2.5 Gs in acceleration, according to InDriveTec (provider of LSM launches for Intamin). A 2.5G launch would be 2nd in the world only behind the SBNO Do-Dodonpa, and a considerable .5Gs above Maxx Force. I can see them still retaining the initial launch acceleration, especially for space reasons

Given the placement of the footers, i think we'll see a 300ft spike and the top hat extended to 488 ft with a switch track after station to launch up the top hat, launch backward up the spike about 250ft, and launch foward up and over the top hat.

All Top thrill Has to do to have the most insane coaster on earth wud simply be just add additional 1/2 twist before top hat and instead of going over the top, you go under inverted. Cost less than half the price of extending the height to compete with others. Nobody has the top inverted. Just sayn.

I don't think the new footers, which (3) are placed in a triangle could support *any top hat* let alone a 4-500ft one. Look at the current 420 one, do you see *one set* of footers holding it up, no. Now I do think its possible its not for a spike but instead support for new track, hear me out. People have been speculating and asking for a *full circuit 400ft RMC coaster* for years now. They could turn this into a 420ft full circuit coaster. Most likley not but its it's a possibility. They could add track and more supports after the season ends. It will probably just be for a spike though...lol That is the trendy thing now.

I still think we're getting a second top hat. To be honest the spike is kinda lame. Here's my take, King Da Ka and Dragster both have 3 support pillars. The footers they constructed have 3 supports. The teaser video in January showed a black top hat. That could be the color of the second top hat. Just a thought
