There is another Easter egg in Cedar Point that might be pretty well known, but interesting nontheless: the track of Valravn will spell out "Ohio" if you stand at Matterhorn and look towards the gondola lift station. Also, if you ever wonder why sometimes there's a burning smell in the park, that's because their CP&LE Railroad trains still run on coal.

@@ppipowerclass All you have to do is look up the pictures. It definitely spells “Ohio”. It’s more than likely just a coincidence because all you really need are a combination of any 2 loops, Immelmanns or wave turns with two near vertical drops in between from the right angle to spell Ohio. I would bet there is likely a couple of other coasters in the world that look like they say Ohio from certain angles.

I used to work security at Battery Park & Marina and I would be there almost every night, all night, walking the docks with all of the nice and expensive yachts there. The pier is right behind them and every night I would walk out onto it to watch their closing fireworks ceremony. It was an awesome sight and a really fun time in my life. I'll never forget it!

My dad brought me to Cedar point when I was 12 he would always pull out the Cedar Point VHS tape & have my brother watch it over & over trying to get us excited for the park. We flew out there from Miami Fl and I was to scared to ride anything leaving my dad riding the rides alone, this was almost 20 years ago I remember the Millennium force being pretty much brand new if I can remember correctly. Now I’m a HUGE coaster fan. I invited my dad to go back to Cedar Point that id pay for everything & he said now that he’s 70 he can’t anymore. What id do to go back and enjoy these rides with him! Quality over quaintly Cedar Point is a first class coaster park and worth every penny

I’ve been attending at Cedar Point since 1967 when I was five years old. Blue Streak was the “big” roller coaster then. I predate Frontier Town and one attraction which went away was the horse drawn stagecoach. One could ride inside or on top. I mention this here because I have tried to find reference to this attraction in the museum which is inside that old sky lift station. It’s not there and is worth remembering.

Yes, the bathroom located by Skyhawk was originally the station for the Frontier Lift. The other station was located approximately either were the Iron Dragon station now sits or where the entertainment stage currently sits , not the Top Thrill Dragster station. In fact part of the lagoon was filled in to build Top Thrill Dragster.

There is a metal statue of Mercury by Valravn and there are also two metal urns in the main midway that are well over 100 years old. They were bought by George A Boeckling at the St Louis Worlds fair near the turn of the century. There were many other metal statues and urns in the park but they had to be sold off during WW2 to keep the park open.

When I worked there, Gemini was new. The area of the park was cleared by a tornado. The story is that the top of the train station in Frontier Town dropped on top of a visitor and he just walked out of the window and wasn’t hurt. I don’t know if the train is there anymore. Also, there was a bridge in Frontier Town that went over the “river.” They told very everyone that Jaws lived in the water. 🙄 “He’s huge.” I worked near the beach where the aquarium used to be. It was freezing until summer hit. My friend worked next door at the French fry place and when it got hot outside, they made them take two salt pills every day to keep them from fainting.

I didn't know about the Rock & Roll HoF names at Back Beat Que! One significant thing you missed was the historical marker noting where Knute Rockne (of Notre Dame football fame) invented a brand new play called "The Forward Pass". It's stunning simply because it shows how long CP has been around...that a FORWARD PASS....in FOOTBALL...was considered revolutionary. Also, just a small thing, you misspelled Frontiertown twice. "I" before "E", except after "C"....

Also the pagoda gift shop is the old station for one of the really old coasters .like scenic railway or leap the dips or something..the pirate ship during Halloween ends used sit out front of the pirate ride..( I think I could be wrong about that one.) Fun video. Besides Melt, Miskeets restaurant in Frontier Town has old CP Signage on the walls. BBQue can add Willie Nelson to the cassettes 2023 Rock HoF inductee! How many young people know those are meant to look like cassette tapes (or what a cassette tape is). There's a plaque on the boardwalk by Breakers that acknowledges Knute Rockne of Notre Dame football fame was a lifeguard at CP and helped (didn't invent) the forward pass on the beach. Charles “Gus” Dorais another lifeguard passed to Rockne running routes. They used it to great affect to upset Army in 1913 (changing college football forever). He also met his wife when they worked at CP. Woodcarver Paul on Frontier Trail used to be a Cedar Point accountant. (He still does income taxes). He can also tell a lot of stories.

Also if you really stare at the wall at backbeatque, you can find some Easter eggs: One of the cassette tapes says “Pete Possum And The Polecat Pickers”, That is a reference to the traveling band scene in boneville. Another one is a white tape with the band “Tesla” on it referencing the car brand. The T is even the Tesla logo.

Great video! Love the Easter Eggs and Toomer history (never knew!!). BUT, Cleveland was indeed NOT the birthplace of Rock and Roll. It was the place where much 1940s R&B / 1950s Rock N Roll music was ultimately promoted and played on the radio (often in exchange for money, i.e. payola), as was the case in other cities, by such on-air celebrities as Alan Freed who helped popularize the term “Rock N Roll” in CLE. For sure Cleveland helped feed the frenzy around Rock N Roll, but it is essentially derived from (and in early example identical to) New Orleans R&B music that had been around since the early 40s for sure. Cleveland was “helping” this style 10-15 years after that. Now if you ask me about where the idea for steel coaters came from, I would NOT know that, lol.

Here's some others. You will be in a coaster line that stops and must wait for maintenance. You might be in a line when a coaster gets stuck. The chances of delays due to weather is more likely at CP than any other park. This includes merely being windy. Most of their coasters shut down at wind speeds of 30mph at 200ft. Good luck finding a wind forecast for that height.
