Honestly I think they might have. I watched a test done by a channel who's every episode has the sole goal of breaking the knife. It was insanely difficult for him to do. He eventually had to hammer it into a stump, lay on his back with his feet against the stump to brace himself and had to pull like he was trying to pull the sword from the stone. I was really surprised at how well the Elmax stood up to it.

I too waited a day and missed out on the first run and then I did the same damn thing on the second run!!!! I have a BARK RIVER Bravo one which is similar as well as a DULO DBK knife in K390. Well I have several DULOS which, are awesome!!!! I think five or six DULOS now. I will get a DBK knife yet and I too want it in Magnacut. I was actually very fortunate in that the boys at DBK Marteen and MIkkie were nice enough to have chosen me as A winner of their monthly giveaway a Falklniven A1X and an F1X. Great knives as well and won't be giving them up as the knives came from them and they are salt of the earth. Good stuff Brother, keep it up.

That's a load of good fortune! I have tried many knives after my dutch uncles did content about them. I didn't even try for their DBK knife or Royal Knife Club. Good intentions and all that. How did you know what to get from Dulo knives? What were your picks?
@joelhunter9842 жыл бұрын
@@ssunfish I started off with aDBK Dulo knife bushcrafter. Then I saw the Leuku and ordered it. I like a Pukko do I then ordered that followed by an F hunter and a kitchen chopper and Aaro Pukko are coming. Dulo makes a great knife and for a super price. I think if he could have dedicated enough time to make their knife, it would have been made by Dulo as his stuff is incredible. I have and have had many custom knives over the years. As far as fit and finish then not to mention the the cost. Super knives. I use them for hunting and generally I can cut an entire deer and a hog with virtually no edge loss. A quick stropping and back on top. Wait times are about 7 to 10 months but, that pretty quick as a Randall is five years and an AD knife is four years wait from time of order.

It's got more than kind of a Bark River aesthetic. I know there is very little completely new in the knife design realm that has been evolving for millennia, but there is nothing there to distinctly differentiate that knife from a BRK Bravo. And yeah, the BRK Bravo is certainly among the most high performing and versatile knives made. So to the extent this one is similar to the Bravo, it is a very good knife indeed.

Most people cant properly sharpen convex ground knives, and should they ever chip will be almost impossible to regrind without a belt grinder and lots of experience (especially with these modern super steels). Of cause most people never notice this because these kinds of knives are purely collectors items for most people & dont get used very much or very hard. This problem also applies especially to bark river & fallkniven.
@chrisjosekuehl Жыл бұрын
I use the work shop Ken onion belt sharpening system with the blade grinding attachment and it puts a convex edge on my knives automatically, it’s a great system if you like convex edges, if you want a straight angle the it’s not the best system.

I was checking out my friend's kitchen knives in highschool and I left a fingerprint on the blade. I wiped it on my sleeve like you did in the video and now I have a 1in scar on the outside of my arm. Every time I wipe knives off now I'll either wipe it up my pants in a stropping motion, or I'll pinch it in my shirt with the edge pointed away from me.
@alanshaw61612 жыл бұрын
I have the Spyderco version made of 01 tool steel and its ok. It's biggest down fall is the smooth as glass handle. If your hands sweat or get wet you have poor gripping power after that, I sharpen it true scandi style and just lay the primary bevel on a stone and grind away and it's the best method because you can touch it up in the field with little effort all you need is your favorite grit slip stone. So easy to have a completely razor sharp edge at all times.

Interesting, I find hollow grind to be a pain in the ass to cut cheese with, at least after a few slices. I find as cheese residue gets on the blade, it will pull the sides of the cheese you're passing into the sides and the blade gets wedged in it. When I wipe the blade clean it'll be fine until the residue builds again.

An outstanding knife and now Bark River has the Aurora in Magnacut at DLT trading for $330.00 to $435.00 USD. Not as tall a blade but otherwise same grind and length. Unfortunately, the basic handle models are gone, but there are some fancy or exotic handle models that are still in stock. have had the basic black micarta for a month now and it is now my main EDC pocket knife. I use it every day to cut boxes up and in the garden and only have had to stop to clean the glue and sap off the blade. The blade is still razor-sharp. I would love to see someone make a straight razor out of Magnacut so I could shave for years without any major sharpening.
