Honestly removing (or just moving) the clip on a test like this would probably help with the hand fatigue. One of the main reasons I started doing tip up carry is it puts the clip in a natural follow of the hand and not right where I'm trying to grip tightly.

Is your test protocol the same as when you tested maxamet? Is it really 4x better than maxamet? I have a pm2 in 15v on the way now, very excited.
@freewilly842 Жыл бұрын
I have both Maxamet and 15v in Para 2's. The 15v chips far less than the Maxamet. The 15v can be run at a far shallower angle than the Maxamet also. I have to run Max. at 18 degrees or more and the 15v can be run at 15 although 17 is the best for all around performance. The 15v sharpens much better also. Spyderco and BBB knocked it out of the park with their collaboration, and this steel/knife will be a 'grail' knife for years to come if Spyderco doesn't start mass producing 15v blades. (I hope they do!) Don't worry about carpal tunnel Pete, the fix is a 15 minute procedure after you go through the long and tedious setup that all surgery's take. I had both hands done 20 years ago and no problems since.

Amazing performance...curious to know how resistant to nicks 15V is. I have a PM2 in Maxamet and while I love the edge retention I end up having to put it back in the sharpener long before it's dull just to sharpen out all the little nicks it develops. I see where a better balance between edge retention and toughness is probably preferable.
@abdulrahmansalem8061 Жыл бұрын
If you want balance between good toughness and good edge retention K390 is a very good choice. Although i do look forward to see how durable 15V is.

15v is about halfway between k390 & maxamet for toughness, but with the optimised heat treat it might present differently in reality.
@Dynotop1a Жыл бұрын
I’ve carved into different woods, hit staples cutting cardboard, and tapped the tip of 15v Manix into a glass. I honestly didn’t look too closely, but don’t recall any noticeable chips and it seems to blunt rather than deform in any major way through rolls or chipping. I haven’t been super hard on it, just using it normally. I also haven’t tried K390 or Maxamet, so can’t make any comparisons from my use, unfortunately. I have to say it’s really quick and easy to sharpen on CBN abrasives. I like the low grit toothy edges off of my Spyderco CBN plate. Also, I recommend trying to slightly increase the angle you’re sharpening at, going for a microbevel, or maybe look into convexing until you stop having deformation at the edge.
