I played this shit all the time on original xbox. Wish the PS4 HD remake had online or system link play though. Obviously not at a expense of local split screen, but it would make it easy to stream on twitch if I could do multiplayer without splitting the screen up. Had no idea the HD remake took away one hit kills though. Guess I'll stick to my xbox version.

Lots of games managed some pretty damn amazing AI though. Even so, shitty AI is better than no gameplay whatsoever. Timesplitters 2 is a game that managed multiplayer AI that was just as advanced as you'd hope.

Who cares? It gives longevity to these games after the servers are long gone and actually makes the game have at least some value to people with no online or poor connection. Without AI, I had no reason to buy Splatoon because in like.....a year, maybe two, that game will only have its oft-forgotten single player.

The nice thing is that indie games/steam games have a lot of new titles that either include local multiplayer options or have it exclusively. Games like Duck Game, Crawl, Speedrunners and Gang Beasts, for example. They're also cheap and don't take much to run on your computer. I play locally on my laptop all the time with some friends and a bunch of wired controllers.

It's more of an exception then the rule. Then again, a lot of Japanese games from that period seem to hold up pretty well graphically. I know for the Resident Evil games it has to do with the use of pre-rendered graphics on the environments so they had more processing power for the characters.

9:17 I looked into this, and I think it was someone on the Battlefield or Unreal Tournament Dev team who brought it up, but essentially with the kind of games they were making with players discovering new techniques and becoming more unpredictable as more mechanics were being added, the demands for higher quality bots essentially became harder and more expensive to program. I think they're actually still being used in these sort of games, but more as space fillers at a premium rather than just "select bot mode."

Drawn Together is really hit or miss. I personally found it endearing and I didn't mind the offensive jokes because like South Park/Family Guy, they make fun of everything. The only difference is that the characters outright parody other types of characters. I will admit though that the gross out stuff was disturbing though lol

When jon and arin played cel damage on game grumps I was quite annoyed by how shitty they were at it (and blamed the game) Im glad to see someone actually understands and likes the physics of this game like I always have. Childhood validated
