Very interesting unit and video mate. I say good for extra safety and put your phone on "do not disturb" if you want peace from calls & text.

The best thing about this unit is, where you normally 'might' have no bars you 'might' get one bar - 3/4G are digital so it works or it doesn't. Also works well in small cell areas and extends the range (Telstra will ping you in a small cell area). At the moment 3G remains voice and 4G is data. With 5G (and a 4G fall-back), you still only get 3G voice. VoLTE will evolve/improve to provide 5G data and 4G voice It seems to boost HSPA/HSPA+ (fall-backs), and remarkably, will find 2/3G voice and data, if still available in 2021 in very remote areas (my experience in WA in mid-2019). It's worth remembering that signals propagate and receive from the centre space of the [main] antenna. The shorter the antenna, the fatter it needs to be; the taller, the thinner they can be. All of my antennas are foldable/pull-back 8' whips - they don't look sexy but are cheaper than sexy looking antennas ... a good HF whip, off the base, looks like an old radio antenna. The decision to 'hide' the internal antenna is a good idea, but you need to sit closer to vehicle when dismounted to get a good boost. I've located the main antenna to the rear of the vehicle on the roof top and located the internal antenna on the front windscreen - this provides me with about 20' of working space when dismounted.

Is the cellfi limited to your mobile phone or can anyone piggyback off it ?

Hi Noah, anyone within close range 5 - 10 meters max will automatically use it without even knowing. It is like using a different telephone tower. It is important to note that everybody is still using their own data and phone contract. You do not need to log in and it is not using up any of your phone data or credit. In fact it has got nothing to do with your phone contract it is only just another phone tower

The Telstra 3G network is scheduled to be decommissioned in June 2024. Probably better to wait until they release a 5G version.

This might be interesting information for your - 5G Telstra Update: Telstra has completed 5G tests using their repurposed 3G bandwidth frequencies within their network allowing 5G to operate in the low-band 850MHz spectrum. This will no doubt increase 5G Telstra coverage in areas across Australia making the 5G network accessible for more people. We have confirmation that the G31 CEL-FI GO mobile signal booster device will eventually get a firmware update which will theoretically allow 5G low-band to be available to consumers without the need to upgrade your existing cellular frequency antenna and/or G31 device. Other mid and high band 5G frequencies will not be available on the G31 for the foreseeable future. Please note that 5G high-band frequencies are rarely available in remote areas where a CEL-FI GO is commonly used. The 4G network will still be the backbone of cellular data and communication in Australia for the foreseeable future even when the 3G network is eventually switched off by the end of 2024. Low Bands - Under 1GHz (Telstra 850MHz) Mid Bands - 1 GHz to 6 GHz (Telstra 3.5 & 3.6GHz) High Bands - 24 GHz to 40 GHz
