We were there in May. Honestly speaking, Simatai section of the Great Wall is my favorite, compared to other popular and more crowded sections. And that beautiful exotic Watertown makes this the perfect spot for a romantic getaway.

I'm glad you didn't pick one of the more touristy, rebuilt sections of the wall to celebrate your marriage. That would have been kind of tired and corny. I think you did well to choose this ruined section of the wall which was somehow perfect for your little adventure--beautiful, mystical, brimming with history and, most of all, a fun challenge for newlyweds. I gotta say, I did get a little nervous when the two of you ventured out to the edge or scaled one of those nearly vertical staircases!
