The lesson is: You have to work the land and have faith in it. As you work it, its strength grows. It becomes more productive. There are life lessons there.

How relieved y'all must be to have your garden planted & now are ready for the rewards of it. I know that Granny really appreciated you planting her garden also. Y'all work so hard for not only yourselves but for others as well. It's so heartwarming to see families like yours doing the right things in life. God bless you all & prayers for Miss Cindy today & into the night. Hugs!

I think I remember reading a book that talked about "preacher beans." They were called that because they were able to cook up quickly when the preacher showed up for dinner. Love watching you plant out your garden! Everything is so pretty, green, and lush in the hills of Appalachia.

There are little pearls in every video you all put out. My favorite here was Tipper telling Corie about the pumpkins. If you dont plant any, then its guaranteed youre not gonna grow any! ❤ As far as Little Debbie goes, it's the Banana Twins for me! Corie - dates stuffed with cream cheese and drizzled with honey. Delicious!

Great video, as always! I love peas! When I was in high school, we were transferred to MD with my Dad's job. My Mom asked around if there were any farms that grew crowders. We were missing them so much! Sure enough, she was told of a lady who grew a big field of crowder peas every year. Anyway, the lady said sure, we could come pick. We did, and then spent some time visiting with the lady. She told us that she had never had anyone out to pick them, they did not eat them and that she grew them for the deer! That whole huge field of peas! Let me just say, we were in hog heaven!

You might not have gotten the idea just from me but it still makes my heart happy that y’all like them so well. We’ve grown them about 35 years or more and my father in law did before me. Mine are about halfway up the cow panel archway. Can’t wait for that first harvest. Best of the year to me. When you were about to plant more, another way to say it "same song, second verse"!! Talking about good things to eat, snacks, dates,a good Christmas candy-like is dates with half pecan or walnut in it, cream cheese. And you could dip in chocolate.

Loved the timing of this video. I’m repotting plants and sewing seeds while listening to y’all. So wonderful! I enjoy ‘talking’ to my garden & trees; sometimes it turns into a pep talk. I encourage them to grow where they’re planted. When they’re flourishing, I congratulate them & when they’re struggling, I try to infuse some will power into those roots. My husband always laughs at it, but in an endearing way. I’ve been out this spring, recovering from surgery & my husband came in after working the land for a few hours & said, ‘well, once you’re up to going out to the trees, they could really use one of your pep talks. They just don’t seem to want to grow for me, and I tried talking to them like you do. Just not the same.” I loved that he was out talkin to our trees. He’s taken over caring for my garden for the most part and it’s been fun to share the joy of gardening with him. ♥️ Praying for your family.

We never had much of a garden in WV when I was growing up. My Mother worker full time as did my Dad. So we always had a few tomato plants &!a number of rows of Silver ?Queen corn , I was the water girl. BUT all y’all have shown me that putting in a garden is HARD WORk. In WV just west of Charleston was a huge outdoor market where u could get anything u wanted. Baskets of green beans, peaches, watermelons & they would cut a plug in it to see if it was ripe enough, & on really special occasions Mother would find a basket of Damson Plums that she would make into preserves, if she wasn’t too busy she would take the time to remove the big seed, otherwise when it was time to top off a big spoon full on ur biscuit u could bite down on the preserves & hope to not lose a tooth. Again ur hard work reminds me to thank all the migrant workers who cultivate so much of r vegetables & fruit.
