Hollywood is a destroyer eventually if "celebrities" don't toe the line, and that has always been true. I'm 70 and could care less about any of these people now. I'll probably never set foot in a theater again, and that's fine with me. I watch very little of mainstream media, including the "news," since we all have access to so much more information and different kinds of entertainment these days, 24/7. We can trace who said what to whom and when it was said. When it comes to somebody's career being destroyed, never say never, lol. These former big time "stars" can do podcasts, garner fans (old and new) and be themselves. I don't really feel sorry for any of these people. They had their 15 minutes of fame already and should have invested their money for their old age. They should have seen it coming if they had half a brain, and let's not think that they all had brains to begin with. They just didn't want to work a 9-5 like most of the rest of us have had to do in the real world.

Jennifer Gray may have "aged out" as Jerry Miller said. To me, she really does look different, though she didn't lose her acting talent on the operating table. She may have lost roles that "pre-nose job Jennifer Gray" would have gotten. However, how long can an actress do young, bubbly teenager roles? Perhaps Jerry Miller is correct, and she would have "aged out" of all the Jennifer Gray "adolescent" roles anyway, with or without the surgery. In any event, I think the nose surgery took Jennifer from a "cute" young actress to a beautiful more mature actress. She can play more types of roles now than when she was "cute" and so young looking.

@@Mister8224 I won't go into "exactly" what she said, but she deemed it a political "joke." That joke not only affected her popularity, but her cast members, as well. Roseanne RULED the airwaves at the time (I was a fan myself), but apparently the people who were signing her paychecks at the time didn't think the joke was funny one bit. Despite changing the name and some cast member, the show has never recovered. She didn't take that into consideration when she shot her mouth off.

I think the way her statement was interpreted was more about the association of dreads with weed, and that was extrapolated into "people who wear dreads smoke weed" and eventually boiled that down to "black people smoke weed". Unlike the others who actually did hurt their careers because of PUBLIC choices made within the context of those careers, Hammer went down because the women accusing him all broke PRIVATE contracts they had signed with him about the sexual experiences they would share. There was a trust bond implied in those contracts that these women broke, even though the contracts were NOT legally binding. I don't follow Hammer's career all that closely, but the little I'd read revealed he was deep into a BDSM lifestyle, and the acts performed in that lifestyle fly against everything that today's progressive Dem women and the Me-Too movement are all about. Hammer's comments about cannibalism and fantastical violence have to be heard within the context of the metaphorical language often used in the BDSM community, and not the easily shocked vanilla world most of us occupy. I've always thought he has been unfairly and harshly judged for the unusual lifestyle that appealed to him.

I remember seeing a short-lived TV sitcom in the 90s called "It's Like.... You Know". It is about a magazine writer from NY who flies to LA in order to trash it in his article, but likes it instead and decides to move there. He then meets quirky friends and neighbours. The show had elements of "Seinfeld" to it. One of the characters in it was Jennifer Grey, playing herself, and the running joke throughout the series was that no one believed she was Jennifer Grey from "Dirty Dancing" or "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" because of her nose job. So this was played into the show.
