We are cruising on the Celebrity Ascent transatlantic to Barcelona, Spain on April 14, 2024. It sounds like we will have a lot to explore on our 14 day cruise with 7 days at sea !!

Nice job gents, great commentary Dan. I especially love the decks, those martini hot tubs are so cool! It looks like it’s very similar to other ships with some cool subtle changes?

Thanks for watching Tom. More of less identical to Celebrity Beyond, with the exception of some much-need sun shades over the martini hot tubs, a more practicable seating arrangement by the pools and some different artwork. The biggest difference was on the bridge, very futuristic :)

I forgot to ask…what are the differences with Apex! It looks identical?!

Apex and Edge have a few small differences - a smaller and less inviting Sunset Bar, a smaller Rooftop Garden Grill, no infinity plunge pools and no Le Voyage restaurant. The Grand Plaza on this two ships is also a little different to Beyond and Ascent. Otherwise, the ships are very similar!

I'm sorry, I can't join the chorus of people who are impressed with this ship. the Retreat restaurant takes up the space an observation lounge usually is in. So, that ship within a ship creates a class system that restricts non-suite passengers to side and aft but no forward views or decks. The Crafts Social is a small area outside of the Martini Bar. It can't have its own music like the pub area on a Cunard ship because music and activities from the Grand Plaza are directly below. Ditto with the specialty restaurants. Anything within the vicinity of the Grand Plaza evenings or nights can't have its own music to create its own ambiance. There is no area for quiet lounging that I see. No small club like areas for dancing. It has so many specialty restaurants and shops but could definitely use more smaller social areas. The Club looks and feels like a nightclub. Nothing looks and feels like what they've had on previous Celebrity ships. That's my issue with it. The decor, trendy contemporary, not my favorite. Not consistent with Celebrity's usual style or distinctive Celebrity.
