We just got off the Beyond 2 weeks ago. We had an Infinite Veranda and really liked it. I can totally understand how people who are used to the traditional balcony don't like it and I was a little nervous after reading/watching reviews. But we would book this type of cabin again without any hesitation. It made the cabin feel larger, we were able to keep the shade up and have a full floor to ceiling view of the ocean while we were waking up, getting ready, just chilling out, etc. We never had any issues with the shade or the window and it was never locked by the captain. While it did turn off the AC when open (even with the bifold doors closed), once closed, the room cooled off again quickly. We were in the Caribbean where temperatures were in the 80s. I do not like being hot inside and I never had an issue with it.

Thank you for your video! I was on the Beyond in late May early June and we absolutely loved the Infinite Balcony! We had the doors open the whole cruise and the window down all day/night long. We are Aussies so we're more used to warm temps. We found the whole ship to be cold so we were delighted to go back to our room with the fresh air and 'real' temperature of early summer. LOVED THE BEYOND! Can't wait to get back on an Edge class again soon.

We went on the Edge when it was 1 month old. We found that we hardly ever used the new designed balcony. Though leaving the shade doors open and the blinds down extended the room. However, we found 2 additional problems! 1) there was a damage from a previous occupant who damaged the electric shade. This damage allowed sun light to come through the shade at that spot. 2) Every morning I was awakened to the noise of the next cabin opening their electric shade early in the morning around sunrise. It had become like a morning rooster since that electric motor sound was always was right after sunrise.

Just two points - the door opening outwards is a safety measure. You find it in most shops. If it's necessary to evacuate the room in a hurry it's quicker and saves fighting with the door. The airconditiong cuts out when you open the window to save energy.

We were on the Apex a few weeks ago on a Baltic Cruise. It was quite cool with temps only reaching daily highs of 19 or 20 Celsius. We really enjoyed our infinite balcony as we would not have been able to use a traditional balcony otherwise with it being so cool. The infinite balcony really gave us extra room space. When it was warm enough we were able to put the top part of the window down. We would definitely book a infinite balcony again especially if we are travelling in cooler weather or in northern Europe.

27th cruise. First time on an Edge class ship - the Celebrity Beyond. Always loved traditional ship balconies. The Infinite Veranda on the Beyond was a huge disappointment. Not a true balcony but, rather, an indoor sunroom. Not like being ‘outside’ at all. Essentially an inside cabin with a roll-down window! As much as we loved the ship itself, we will now avoid Celebrity entirely in favour of the new Princess, Norwegian or other vessels for future cruises. Still can’t figure out what Celebrity was thinking when they outfitted the entire Edge class with these “non-balcony” verandas. If you love spending some down-time during your cruise sipping wine in the beautiful air& sea surroundings of an outdoor balcony, you’ll likely be as disappointed as my wife and I were with the “Infinite Veranda”!😢

@inCanada55 I have not had an Infinity balcony, because I know me, and I know I would hate it. I absolutely agree with you guys about the infinite veranda stateroom. It's essentially a glorified ocean view cabin. Although it's aesthetically pleasing, this in my opinion is a design flaw. Once these ships get some age on them and the motors for the blinds and windows start malfunctioning, you will have some very unhappy passengers. I can't imagine the cost Celebrity would incur to retrofit all these rooms to standard balconies.

I have been on both (IV and Sky Suite on the APEX ) and to be honest if your on a cabin with a Balcony you have glass behind you (sliding door) walls on either side to the next cabins and the deck above you for the most part . so the only open part is the open area above the balcony. And yes the AC goes off when you open the window . but I have to tell you that on a cool night in the Greek islands leaving the window open was fantastic listening to the waves. but the AC goes off if you leave the sliding glass door open in a balcony room. it does make the cabin bigger and gives it an more open room feel .

It’s reminiscent of our upper level condo, which has floor to ceiling windows, and a similar effect to having the balcony slider open. The best part, was that the air conditioning shut off when the window was even slightly open. If we could have totally disabled the air conditioning, we would have. We could never get a comfortable temperature and tried 23 to 24 degrees C. We were always freezing and we prefer to have an open window. If you like a cold room, lowering the window will turn off the air conditioning, so you may not be happy with the window feature.

You're right about not being able to use all the plugs. Didn't realize the desk retracted into the drawers! Ours was out so it looked like it was supposed to be there. Wow! This is very useful information as all I have heard is praise for these cabins. We had even thought of the Edge class for our next cruise. My husband and I also like to take time in the early am with a cup of coffee on the balcony while the other sleeps in and if I was trying to sleep in and he made that ruckus opening up the balcony, well, let's say I would not be pleased.

I have heard the same comments about the new balconies. The biggest problem was exactly what you mentioned Carole, you are short and you really can not see well over that window. I know I would not like it at all if it were me. I like the air and being able to see around me. In my last couple of cruises I have had an ocean view cabin, which I do not mind at all, but traveling alone I have not been able to afford a balcony too many times.

Thanks for the review. I agree that an infinite balcony is a glorified Ocean View cabin with a window that opens! A Sunset Balcony seems a good option but many are overlooked. Is this the case on Celebrity Beyond?

Yeah I agree on the balcony we cruised the Med on Edge and had issues with our infinite balcony because I would wake 2 hours before the wife and would always sit on the balcony and just look at the waves but as you identified it is noisy and disruptive when you don’t have a sliding door to be able to actually go outside. We actually hated this design and would also not book one of those again. We always book balconies so this would likely keep us from that class of Celebrity cabin. My wife also couldn’t have a lean out either as she is 4’11 and her eyeline standing was just above the dividing bar. Also as identified by you at times you cannot open your window at all of it is raining they lock you down completely. Hated it and we love Celebrity

I was on the ship on the 11th floor and I thought the balcony was just right for us. Beautiful ship. I too, hung my bathing suit over the chair. It’s very expensive to have them wash your clothes. Back in the day, we used to be able to go to the laundry facility on board to do our own, but no more.

the window on the balcony seems to be just as tall as other lines when you sit down.. but the drawback appears to just be that you aren't able to lean over- what i see as nice is that if it is raining- which it rained every evening on our 2 week caribbean cruise a few years ago- you can still sit in that area without getting wet.. seems like a nice design. thanks.

Your points re: the noise here are SO valid - I'd be ready to kill someone if I was sleeping and they started battering around trying to open everything - seems way more of a faff than just being able to slide open the door... Out of curiosity (apologies if you covered in the video and I wasn't listening...!) - was this room much cheaper than the standard balcony option? Other than that though, looks like a great wee room!

Thank you for the review as my wife and I have our first cruise on a edge class ship on Celebrity Ascent scheduled for October 20th 2025 on a 11 night Europe cruise out of Rome Italy. We reserved a Aqua Class premium Infinite balcony cabin on deck 9 midship port side. We have read alot of reviews and it seems somewhat spilt but we have the opportunity to get a sunset cabin with a traditional balcony but we are spa people lol and we did Aqua class on our first Celebrity cruise on Equinox in 2023 and enjoyed it with the spa amenities and the speciality restaurant Blu even though it was a older ship and the stateroom was dated and needed a refurbishing as even the balcony was un usable because of the rust above falling with paint chips We still had a very good experience which has brought us to cruise again with Celebrity. Anyways we will probably give it a try as that's the only true way to know if we like it. Lol. I think or hope being that we are cruising late October the temperatures won't be as hot as when we say are in the southern Caribbean In October so we can have the window open and don't have to worry about the AC turning off per say. We are taking a second cruise on Celebrity Ascent mid March 2026 for 11 nights to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean but in a Aqua class sky suite on deck 10 which does have the traditional balcony perfect for a HOT climate year round so we should be able to kind of compare. One idea why Celebrity went with the Infinite balcony even though I agree it's not a balcony lol is the cost for maintenance to maintain the ship?? I only say that because I served in the U.S Navy on two ships a aircraft carrier and a battleship and that ocean and salt water can do alot of wear and tear damage across a fleet of ships I imagine. I'm sure Celebrity had other reasons as well though to do this some with hopefully good intentions or maybe cost measures who knows but it sure has stirred up the talk on social media. Lol. Just a thought. Tha k you again for your detailed review. Cheers!

You are welcome, thanks for watching. Aqua class does look a great experience, the only way is to try it as a lot do like this type of cabin, just didn't work for us. Remember that there is a USB plug in the phone on one side. That would be yet another one for convenience to charge phone if you choose. Also, we left the French doors open and I used eye mask to keep light out of my eyes when I slept. It was absolutely lovely to wake up to the ocean each day. This is what you pay for when you go on a boat. Why shut the window area with a draw curtain when you can leave it open always? We were on the Apex which is honestly the same design in the room.

OMG! Your video was so eye opening!!!! I have seen countless videos about the Celebrity Edge ship, when the Infinity balcony cabins made their debut. Not ONE of them had the viewpoint that you just showed us about sitting down and looking out through the dirty glass, instead of the open window. I guess the designers expected everyone to be standing when looking out the balcony??? Also, I don't think the charging station would be an issue as you mentioned because, as an American, I would only use the 110V charging (U.S. version) and not both U.S. and EU chargers at the same time. One negative about every cabin tour video I've seen (no fault of the vlogger) is that the bed ONLY has one plug on ONE side of the bed. With two night stands, why can't BOTH SIDES have a plug??? So annoying. Both me and my partner have CPAP machines and it would be crazy to string one electrical cord across the bed so that both of our machines can be plugged into an outlet at bedtime.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel2 жыл бұрын
That is so annoying, agree why do they not put plugs both sides! The view was not great when you were sat down! Thanks for watching!

We just got off the Celebrity Beyond a couple weeks ago. I loved the infinite balcony, but there are some points I'd make: First, we were in cabin 7215, so we walked past your old cabin many times! I would have thought our cabin was a mirror of yours, but that apparently was not the case. Your cabin layout seemed awkward to me. Our cabin layout made a lot more sense. Walking in, the bathroom was on the right. The couch was next on the right, across from the desk on the left. The bed was at the far end on the right. That seemed to flow better than your arrangement. My wife and I could take our clothes out of the closet and just change right there, instead of having to navigate around the bed to get to open space. Having the closet and the desk close to each other also seemed to make sense at times like this. My wife pointed out that putting the desk and couch at the far end with the infinite balcony extends the open living space, and some people might prefer that. I guess she has a point. Along with this, I loved the infinite balcony because it extended the room. If my wife and I were changing at the same time, I could take my clothes over to the other side of the bed and I had plenty of room. I also don't like the outdoors as much, so I don't want the wind in my hair and all that. I enjoyed sitting in air conditioning and having the floor-to-ceiling view. I guess it depends on your personal preferences. For us, we will definitely book an infinite balcony room again if the ship has it. Cheers!

My last cruise ship, the Regal Princess, was tied up next to the Celebrity Apex (a sister ship and the same class as the Celebrity Beyond) which I observed through my binoculars. When I realized that most of the balconies were of the "French balcony" type I realized that maybe the Celebrity Apex or its sister ships aren't the ships my wife and I would want. This video confirmed the misgiving I had concerning the Celebrity ships. One thing I like about the Princess cabins are the wide-open closets, which have more storage space than a couple would ever likely need. Those enclosed closets on other cruise ships can be bothersome. (Closet doors - who needs them?) Having a separate step-out balcony is overall superior to the French balcony setup for the reasons displayed in the video. The speed the balcony window opens and closes may prove irritating. And having a shade that raises and lowers vertically instead of curtains makes regulating the amount of natural light more problematic. I have to admit that the bathroom on the Celebrity Beyond looks better than what you would find in a standard Princess cabin; the Princess bathrooms are compact and somewhat Spartan; big enough to do what you have to do, but not much elbow room. But in my view, the relative spaciousness of the Princess cabins makes up for the bathroom. I'm sure the rest of the Celebrity Beyond is quite nice. However, this cabin does not make me want to cruise with them.
@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel2 жыл бұрын
Yes the open closets are popular on Princess. We definitely would cruise on this class of ship again and there are other types of cabins available on the edge class ships which we would choose next time.
@barryhaley7430 Жыл бұрын
The Celebrity Millennium and Solstice class ships are the traditional cruise cabins with more closet space although we didn’t need it on the Apex. I travel with a carryon and a small backpack. We have done a 3 or 4 Princess cruises and find the service and food a little better on Celebrity.
