Do you know the difference between a vegan and a vegetarian? Many don't. When have you heard of vegetarians storming restaurants. I'm a vegetarian, but I wouldn't eat in a vegan restaurant, they have nothing I will eat, but I can eat at some ordinary restaurants. I'm an awkward vegetarian, I don't like vegetables, bar a few, tofu or any other vegan plastic food. I'm sure as hell not paying the inflated prices either for a bowl of limp lettuce, I can get that in a pub lunch.

It's not really the same though. A vegan restaurant wouldn't have meat in the kitchen, and I assume most of the staff would be vegans as well, so they wouldn't even be willing to handle meat. Fyre on the other hand seems to be a regular restaurant that serves all sorts of non meat food, such as pasta and vegetables, and no one working in a kitchen has a problem cooking those kinds of things.

I'm one of them. You just look down the menu and check out the veggies - knowing this is what is in the kitchen and I've always found restaurants very obliging about throwing them into a big bowl for me. Easy peasy and no fuss needed.

I was once banned from a local shop - I simply asked for cod & chips - nothing fancy. The shop owner refused to serve me. "Why?" I asked "I've been perfectly polite, my money is as good as anyone's, I will use my credit card if required. Is it because of my colour, or my gender or my age?" Anyone can eat any diet they choose for any reason they choose, but that does not give them any rights whatsoever to try to force their personal diet ideology on anyone else, nor does it give them any special rights to protest any business because it chooses not to support their diet ideology. Each to their own .. but sometimes "veganism" can be a precursor and/or a "cover" for an eating disorder. I've known several people who have developed an eating disorder that began with a "new and healthy" way of eating - initially vegetarianism, which became a move to veganism and finally, food refusal or binge eating. Not saying ALL vegans are eating-disordered but I've met teenagers right through to a retired medical doctor who were starving themselves under the banner of being vegans.

Completely agree with you. A vegan diet is very restrictive and what we put into our bodies is one of the easiest things we have control over. If there are chaotic things happening in your life, monitoring your diet to such a degree can give you some of that control back and it can actually feel good. I was vegan many moons ago but I ended up going back to meat after a couple of years as I just couldn't sustain myself. It's much worse if you have food intolerances or allergies like I do!

But glutton free food is not and never has been a trend, they are the ones who make it even harder for those who are glutton intolerance. I’m only slightly affected if I eat too much of it but my friend she can not have anything with glutton at all if she does within seconds of it hitting her gut she is curled up in a tight ball with server cramping. I made a dinner once making sure it had no glutton in it, not easy but I found I loved the glutton free biscuits. It’s just so expensive to have a glutton free life, so she just does not eat 70% of the foods out there, mostly veggies and a little meat, buying glutton free bread or flour is costly. I just don’t get why people get stupid ideas into their heads like a glutton free diet, fad diets like this never work, before you know it their bodies are craving for it back in their diets and they have no idea why they are getting the cravings. my friend is like a walking Skelton because there are so many things she can not eat, she would love to have so many of these things like she use to have as a child but since her teenager years no more.

I watch a video on Vegan Deterioration channel the other day. It was about vegan shrimp. The vegan making the dish needed to use plastic gloves because the one ingredient could burn your skin. Herbivores like cows have two stomachs, why dont humans? herbivores have a longer large-intestine, while humans have a shorter large-intestine. why humans can't break down fibre but herbivores can? . The appendix in primates digests the fibre, in humans its vestigial. Why do humans have 4 organs dedicated to absorb fat?(plants don't have fat, only meat does). So I dont agree with the theory that humans are non-carnivorous. If so why the vegetarians are more susceptible to deficiency? why do vegetarians find it difficult to build muscle than non vegetarians? science is never the final word ever. It is subject to criticism and change.

Great report. It’s a shame the activists aren’t like the vast majority of Vegans - just quietly making their own lifestyle choice. I do think it is very telling that, while omnivore restaurants all offer Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-free options, NO Vegan restaurants offer carnivore options….

My religion teaches me that God gave us the animals of the world as a gift and that every meal should therefore include meat. For this reason, I don’t offer plant-based meal options in my restaurant. Equally valid??? After all, for me, no exclusively vegetable meals is a way of life. I loathe Woke zealots who think they are some kind of special “Elect of God” whose choices are uniquely valid.

There's a world of difference between vegetarian and vegan, the former simply not eating meat and therefore fairly easy to cater to. Most places have offered vegetarian options for decades.

been a F&B manager all over the globe for 20 years and i feel his pain, i find vegan customers difficult in general, not only with food but with everything its a generalisation i know, but they on average are difficult people and have other life problems other than food

As a Vegan in the US, I still try to support my local restaurants. We don't have any Vegan restaurants in my area. Most areas don't. I find that the local Mexican restaurants and Asian restaurants are best suited to handle special orders. And they don't seem to have a problem with it at all. The restaurants that can't handle special orders are usually the chain restaurants where everything is sent to the restaurant pre-made and frozen. And, then, of course, the people working in the kitchen mindlessly slap butter and cheese on everything out of habit.

I feel a bit bad when I eat ribs or a steak while dining with my vegsn friends but seriously it's not my issue, it's theirs. If I was bothered/offended/sickened by what someone ate, I wouldn't eat with them. Simple solution.

If you want to eat vegan that is fine, go to a vegan restaurant. Do not expect every restaurant to cater for your particular wants. Like if you hate meat don't go to a steak house, if you hate fish do not go to a fish restaurant, if you hate spicy food, don't go to a curry house. For goodness sake there are plenty of places to go. Do not use violence to enforce your views.

I've been an ovo lacto vegetarian for almost 40 years and there are so many more options for people like me in restaurants than there used to be. While I appreciate this enormously, I believe all restaurants have the right to set their own menus. If a restaurant chooses not to have vegan or vegetarian dishes (or non gluten or whatever), they should make it clear on their website. Other than that, they can offer whatever they choose, just as we all choose which restaurant we want to go to.

True, but glutton free meals is not a fad like some people think, my friend can not eat anything with glutton in it if she does she is so sick with cramping within seconds of the glutton hitting her gut. The other thing is the older one gets the likely hood off suffering from glutton intolerance increases, I have noticed this in some meals I have eaten with a lot of bread in it, one or two slices I’m fine but any more than that it cause me mild discomfort. Most meals are glutton free except for the gravy as it’s not corn flour used but wheat flour and that ha glutton in it. I don’t use flour to thicken gravy anymore I use instant mash safe and easy. In some cases its just changing one ingredient wheat starch for corn starch what find annoying is when I go shopping the packet says corn starch but if you check the ingredients it’s wheat that’s used not corn but they still call it corn starch. I now have to check the ingredients on all packaging just to make sure of what is in the packet. Why can’t they just call it wheat starch not corn two different items altogether.

A good friend of mine was a vegan .. he was a lovely guy but he was always shoving it down your throat like vegans all do .. he died at 50 of cancer so for all his caution of food and focus on healthy eating .. it didn’t save him and in fact contributed to his premature death! He was always so pale to the point of anaemia .. it’s not the diet humans are meant to have .. animals kill for food .. it’s part of the natural order!
