I've seen 70+ year olds commenting under his videos, he reaches everyone no matter their age or background. Actually if you check out the videos Tom posted a little while back after he & Adam Calhoun released their collab album, the music industry insiders that verify ranking for Billboard screwed them and refused to accept their sales numbers no matter what they offered to do to let them verify the numbers - even offering to give the charts company back-end access to their website to confirm the numbers directly from their online sales transactions. Apparently they thought it was impossible for the numbers Tom told them to be real. So while Tom SHOULD be at the top of the Billboards, the Billboards refuse to let his name on their charts.

Tom Macdonald is easily the most fascinating artist out there right now. Is he the best rapper? No. Is he the most lauded or acclaimed ? Again, no. But I'll be damned if he isn't the most sincere and courageous, which will always be immensely interesting. The man is a bona fide trailblazer: A Canadian white boy giving disaffected conservatives a voice in hip hop, who singlehandedly does everything all by himself as an independent artist. Tom doesn't have a record label or mass media conglomerate pouring endless resources into him to manufacture a career for him. It should be impossible for someone like him to make a dent in rap, but lo and behold, he's defied all the odds. A true trailblazer indeed.

Absolutely love it that you did this interview Megan. You mentioned "the comments". One of the things about Tom, is that if you look across the comments of his songs (as a sociologist I've read thousands), you will hear the voices of America...all the different voices of America. As counterintuitive as it might seem to those ignorant in respect to the details of Tom's music, I would argue that he is one of the most unifying individuals out there. Old, young, black, white, gay, straight, short, tall, fat, skinny, we can all relate. We might not like (or really understand) everything we hear, but we respect the courage and talent it takes to call it out like he does. Tom is known for spittin facts....and it is a reputation well-earned and an example more should follow. Thank you both for the courage and the work effort you guys demonstrate everyday., we are lucky to have you!

Toms story: Tom McDonald is 100% independent! He’s had major record labels after him daily for at least four years and he turns them ALL down! After you listen to a few of his songs, especially the music industry and sad rappers, you’ll understand why. He writes all of his songs, makes his beats, and his girlfriend Nova Rockafeller shoots and edits all of his videos! That’s why dear rappers is so simplistic because they were just starting out really. He dabbled in bands and had managers in the past, but that’s why he struggled so much and that’s why he wasn’t as successful as he should’ve been until he wrote dear rappers. That’s after he had cut everybody out and started doing things his way on his time with no middleman! He spent about nine months battling crippling depression. He contemplated suicide several nights and he was a severe alcoholic! After what seemed to be an eternity, he spiritually came out of that depression and quit everything cold turkey, not only alcohol but also marijuana and certain anxiety medication. Him and Nova could barely pay rent to keep a home after that but he stayed strong and ultimately wrote Dear Rappers which was his very first video to go viral, and the rest is history! He shoots his videos wherever is convenient whether it’s in his own home, in his backyard, or in an alley! He will even go in grocery stores and randomly shoot a scene for a video lol. He personally signs albums ordered by his fans (for a short time with each new drop) and he also packages and ships the albums and all merchandise with close family and friends assistance hangovergang.com. He builds the sets for all of his videos! Also, he used to be a carpenter as well as a professional wrestler in Canada, which is where he’s from. He spent some time in college but that just wasn’t where his life was going he had some experiences with the illuminati, not sure for how long or what exactly the nature of that was, but I know that he left to follow Christianity! The set for clown world was in his backyard l! He took number one on iTunes with “best rapper ever” beating Eminem’s entire last new album!! Recently he took number one from Cardi B on iTunes with clown world! He’s taken the spot from her to number one at least four times! He’s also taken number one on billboards top emerging new artist! He made number one recently on hip-hop Billboard charts and number two in all genres! 2 month’s ago he charted on seven billboards and got number one on two of them with “no good bastard’s” and made it on 7 MORE billboards with “Church”! He also just got three number ones and several other charts on billboards with “snowflakes“, and 10 spots on billboards including 2 number ones with “Brainwashed“!! He also got 2 more number ones on billboards with Adam Calhoun “New World Order”! He recently dropped something very different in his new colab album “As Far as the Stars” with Nova and Brandon Hart! He just dropped 2 new albums 9/3/21!! #UsAgainstTheWorld #NoGutsNoGlory and available now to order on iTunes or Amazon Music is the collab album with Adam Calhoun “The Brave”! I hope you have fun getting to know him as much as I have! #HangoverGang

Tom is very inspiring and courageous and a lot of his music is incredibly powerful and moving. One of the things I love about Tom is even in his more serious songs he seems to always find a way to uplift, encourage or give that little bit of hope to the listener. I have read so many comments of people that his music has touched or helped in some way. Thank you for this interview. #hangovergang

As a fellow Canadian there is a bit of patriotic pride with Tom and Nova. In my life I went through my alcoholism and drug addiction and I feel his lyrics personally. I have listened to him since 2019 when he was just starting. I can say I am proud of both him and Nova for what they achieved and hope he brings his style as mainstream not the other stuff I don't listen to. I won't say how it makes me feel as long as keeps Tom alive and putting out song after song so I can add to my collection of everything I found on him to date.

Thank you for sharing this. I️ enjoyed it. I’m not a big rap and r&b listener; mostly for the reasons explained today. But I’m glad I️ sat and listened to this. It was a soulful and very heartfelt.

One of the best things about Tom's music is his comment sections. We live in such a toxic world nowadays that negativity is everywhere. So it's refreshing and amazing to see how many people he makes happy and gives hope.🤘

Ty so much Megyn for having Tom on. You’re the only one I’ve seen interview him. He needs more exposure. Such a brilliant lyricist.

Never been into this style of music except maybe on a cruise or on vacation and that’s not by choice; just what everyone bumps everywhere. Then comes Tom barreling into my life 3 years ago (yeah I was late) and everything changed. Then finding Nova’s music. These two know how to speak to your heart, how to break through the BS, how to reach the seemingly unreachable, and introducing us to art that rap can be when it’s not all about poppin’ bottles and objecting women and each other and drugs. To have someone whose been there, whose eyes are OPEN, these two people who have the most insane talent both apart and especially together, their obvious love for the human spirit, for the soul of America, and his songs about sobriety hit so hard. His writing style is one that tells the truth and a story and draws you in and makes you F E E L. I just have the utmost respect for Tom and Nova.

I love that you did this, Megyn. Thank you. I was 46 and used my 19-year-old's birthday as an excuse to go to a Tom MacDonald & Nova Rockafeller show before the plague struck. Not sorry. Will do it again and again. Tom and Nova are different and special. #HangOverGang
