I try to upload videos that I personally would watch, and there aren't many videos of people doing insane challenges (especially self-imposed) in difficult games, other than speedrunning. I enjoy the perfection type of challenge in a video game like no hit or no death stuff, which is a really niche category of video game content. Simply put, I want to be the one who does the things a video game that an avid fan of the game would think, "I wonder if anyone has done this before? Probably not because that sounds too ridiculous and painful." I want to do that, and above and beyond what someone would expect when thinking along those lines of thoughts.

Built specifically for speed runners who like getting punished. That didn't change how much I absolutely loved this game though. What do u mean with 114%?
@eenox6 жыл бұрын
Mudkip243 All crystal hearts, all strawberries, and all golden strawberries. It’s 114% because there are 200 strawberries total including all golden and regular, and just 175 regular strawberries, and 100% is considered getting all of the regular strawberries and all of the crystal hearts. So, the only thing that changes between 100% and 114% is getting the golden straberries. So finally, the reason it’s 114%, is because 200/175 is about 114, and it’s determined only through the strawberries because that’s all that changes between it and the 100% category.

8 first, 5 second and 7 only the third one? Really? I just completed all C-sides and 7C seems to be the hardest by far. It took me 960 deaths and 3 hours to complete. The problem is that not only 7C requires the exact inputs but it requires the exact inputs at very exact moments/points with almost no margin of error. It doesn't have to be pixel-perfect but it has to be almost pixel-perfect.
@eenox5 жыл бұрын
After a bunch of practice, I found 7C to not be so bad, but I could never overcome the inconsistencies with 8C and 5C. 7C seems like the hardest after just completing it the first time, but doing it and all the others deathless many dozens of times, your idea of what’s hard and what isn’t stems from some of the smaller things that are hard to make consistent, something that is still tricky even when doing it with the best method. In the context of all of the C-Side levels in a row, 5C’s first and last screen are pretty difficult and require some awkward timings. 7C doesn’t really have that awkward of timings, and I was able to get to a point where I did it deathless probably around 90-95% of the time.
@eenox5 жыл бұрын
Things seem much harder after just doing them for the first time. Most of your time played and deaths on 7C were spent trying to memorize and gain muscle memory little by little. The 3rd screen is a long level that requires you to get further and further in the level to ever have a chance of experiencing the next part, and getting such an attempt takes a long time, and a lot of trial and error, since you don’t have everything memorized yet, or an exact idea of what to do. However, once you do have it memorized and have done it many times again employing your same strategies, it will get easier and easier each time you do it because your consistency improves as you do something over and over again. 7C is actually not too precise, it’s lenient to a point. Like I said after your first time through, something seems wayyyyy harder than it actually will be after practice, and some things will seem easier than others with the same amount of time put in to each, because some things can only be made so easy. 7C overall isn’t tricky, there’s no really precise gimmicks in it like 8C or 5C.
@nnslife5 жыл бұрын
@@eenox Thanks for the detailed answer. Yes, I understand that with practice difficulty and consistency rankings may change. Still I was really surprised that you put 5C into "hard-to-do-consistent". Excluding the first screen of each level (Celeste doesn't count it towards speedrun time and fewest death stats) 5C was actually my second-easiest C-side completed in 14m 46s with only 56 deaths (after 1C which I completed in 10m 55s with 44 deaths). I rewatched the third screen of 5C and the only difficult part for me seems to be 2:04-2:06. As with the first screen of 5C, it took me more than 500 deaths, but judging by 7C-first, looks like you have smooth hack-wall-corner-jumps. As for 7C-third, I rewatched the video, recalled my experiences and I would say most of it has to be just very precise, but: 3:00-3:02 has to be super-uber precise to be able to jump over the crystals. By the time I completed the whole screen I was doing this part successfully around probably only 50% of the time. 3:04 falling and 3:05 dashes (I did right and right-up dashes unlike right-up and right-up as you did) have to be very-very precise 3:09 I don't know how you can "ignore" the cloud (stand on it for so long and not get thrown into crystals). I had to jump from the cloud immediately and then do two up-dashes in a row. This is the easy part anyway though. 7:19 - funny, I completed the whole game and didn't know you can crouch and that it affects how fast the platform goes down. I had to do very precise jumping to keep the platform moving down and evading the enemy at the same time.

@eenox5 жыл бұрын
Minene Uryuu922 I PC Masterrace I For getting over the spike walls, you need to make sure that you bounce on the upper part of the spring; then specifically for the second spike wall, you also need to extend the dashes out so that you get the max height out of both of them. As for the wallbounce strat, you can see the I avoid it entirely by doing dashless strats. If you want yo do the wallbounce, there’s not much I can tell you to help you get it right besides just dash up later (you can be pretty far away from a wall and still get a wallbounce to work, so it’s better to dash up later rather than sooner). Anyway, to explain my method of avoiding that: basically, walls’ hitboxes extend further up than you can just normally climb to, this allows you to jump from higher up on them than you’d normally be able to, and in many parts of the game makes a lot of impossible jumps possible. The method in doing so is: jumping straight up so as to get above the top of the wall, then *right* as or before madeline’s feet touch the corner, do a full jump and move away from the wall. Hope that helps a little. XwO

@eenox6 жыл бұрын
The hitbox of walls that allows you to jump off of it extends further above it than it physically shows, this lets you do several things, and I would recommend watching someone’s tutorial on Chapter 1 A-Side Dashless to get a better idea on what all of those things are. Anyway, you get to the top of the wall and jump straight up, and then jump again, but sooner than you think you would be able to. I’d actually recommend doing a medium initial straight up jump on the wall, rather than a max height one, because then you can basically just press jump the second time immediately (which is what I showed at the timestamp you marked). It’s hard to explain in text but it’s actually super easy, and like I said maybe go watch a video on Ch 1 Dashless to get a better idea, as well as try it yourself. If you watch a video on Chapter 1 Dashless I’d recommend doing it yourself because you have infinite tries. Also a side tip that no one else may tell you for Chapter 1 Dashless, if you accidentally dash at any point, as long as you don’t complete the level after having dashed and instead just purposely die, the run will not be voided. Simply put, you can dash as much as you want as long as you don’t dash during the successful attempt of completing the screen. Alright that’s all I have to tell you, I know it’s a lot, hopefully you understand some of it and that I was of some help to you. Have a good day =)

Why do you use the keyboard instead of a controller?
@eenox6 жыл бұрын
I used to use controller and no matter if it was analog stick or dpad, I wouldn't reliably dash in the direction I wanted to all the time. It wasn't extremely frequent, but just frequent enough for me to want it to stop. So, switched to keyboard mainly because I now have complete control and ability to press whatever button (or key, rather) whenever. After getting used to it I almost never dash in the wrong direction anymore, and like I said I just feel like I'm more in control. I feel it was worth it, but I'm sure if I stuck it out with controller that those problems that I had would dissipate. I won't say one is inherently better than the other, but at the very least once I was competent on keyboard, I had way less misinputs than when I was competent on controller. The big thing is that keyboard is really hard to learn. Having all of the major functions in a row just feels extremely weird after using the controller where they were all in pretty distinguishable and intuitive locations. However like I said, once you get over that first stage there are little to no input accidents.
@alos72416 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the long and detailed explanation. The reason i asked because i am thinking of maybe switching to keyboard myself because of the reason you have pointed out. However i am just not sure if i am going to bother going through the effort to learn to play plat-forming games with my keyboard. Again thanks for explaining to me your reason.
