For those wondering.The gravitational pull of the moon causes highs and lows in the ocean. Also known as tides. "Our love is tainted by the tides" is trying to say that their love is damaged from the ups and downs. "Both sides of the moon" represents both her and her partner having fault in these tides. The rest is pretty self explained about a toxic relationship.

Good explanation of the lyrics but it's worth noting that the Sun actually has way more to do with tides than the Moon. If the Moon disappeared, tides would be diminished, but still there, while I'm not sure about the other way around, maybe barely noticeable tides.

Saw this young lady on BBC breakfast this morning. Went straight to KZbin. All I can say is Wow. At 59 years old I get these lyrics and the soul in Celestes voice. Amy Winehouse lived her lyrics and experienced mental illness and loving someone who totally engulfed her world even though it was the wrong sort of love.
