What a great movie I've never come across before now. And a lovely ending. I spy a very early Colinn Firth up against an outstanding by then actor, Peter 'O Toole. And he held his ground. A compelling story about life death and then a second chance at life again. 5 stars.

I absolutely loved every minute of this movie. Witty script and brilliant acting. One to remember! The last scene reminded me of an incident many years ago, when I happened to stay at a hotel in Düsseldorf, Germany, with some other girls for a training week. As I entered, I saw Richard Chamberlain sitting in the hall, all alone. I was the only person who had taken notice of him, and after we were seated in another hall, I told the girls who was sitting next door. They ALL jumped up and rushed to ask him for an autograph. They came back with a happy smile, and I'm pretty sure he liked it, too.

What a strange and unusual film. Iv never seen or heard of before. The actors all so brilliantly played their character parts so very well. A very young and handsome Colin Firth who is one of my favourite actors as is Peter O`Toole. I am not at the end of this really good film yet. I`m intrigued to find out how it ends.

A special off beat film that's highly original and thought provoking. A cross between Squid Game and the prisoner but without violence. Full of surprises and has an unexpected ending. I was annoyed, intrigued and delighted by this film. It even has time travel as it starts in the mid 1960's and then has its own timeline. I hope they never remake this film. The story is perfectly told in what you see. Fame........we all desire it but at what cost to the soul ?

Anybody interested, the filming location is the Hotel Le Provencal in Juan-les Pins in the South of France. Maria Becker, the actress playing Dr. Frisch, has her last IMDB entry in 2008 at the age of 88, guesting in the long-running German series "For Heaven's Sake". She died in 2012. Andrea Ferreol, Theresa, will forever be burned in my memory as the female protagonist in 'Le Grand Bouf', a movie even more out there than this one.

This movie is pure genius. The only major flaw was that I had no idea that the start of the movie was set in 1966 due to the fact that the clothes that the main actor wore were straight out of the 90s. I wondered why most of the others wore the sixties clothes though. Aside from that, the acting was superb (particularly Peter O'Toole) ans a great cast with a brilliant story and I love the ending. Also some rather cool cameo appearances! Sheer brilliance!

I love Peter O'toole. Been a huge fan of his since Beckett. As great an actor as he was this film is proof that even the greats took bad projects just to stay working. I wanted to like this film but the ending sank it. It's as if the writers were on to...something, but couldn't figure out how to stick the landing. It's a shame because Peter O'toole had some great moments in the film and there is a message about the artist/intellectual/science/philosopher etc finding some degree of immortality beyond their life through their work. But that ending completely wastes the point. Oh well, there's always Beckett.

They treat aged male actors better than aged female actors. This was a sweet tribute to a great actor who is now aged. In contrast for Betty Davis and Joan Crawford, they had the awful ‘Whatever Happened To Baby Jane’ movie. Marion Davis, or some old-time movie star, they had her as some crazed loon, constantly reliving her movie glory in mad solitude. Maybe someday women will be treated well, especially older women, it hasn’t happened yet, and I wouldn’t hold my breath.
