So on Wednesday I broke my arm doing sports, I had to go have surgery and what not on Thursday. When I got home my mom had bought me a small set which I was very grateful for but the problem was is that I COULD NOT build it… or so I thought, it took me about 2.5 hours to build a 200 piece Lego set.

Well the Monkey King did t face off against the Jade Emperor but bested his army. He rampaged in Heaven but never fought the Jade Emperor (unless MonkeKid has different lore)

Ok, so as someone who has a bit of study in Chinese mythology, I’m going to expand what is said. *Spoiler on the speculation of season 5 based on the mythology. Li Jing is indeed the demon-capturing-pagoda-wielding god who had trapped Sun Wukong inside the pagoda. He is also the father of Nezha and one of the illustrious commanders of heaven. Besides that, I’m pretty surprised that Lego would include Nuwa in the set, since is the mother goddess that molded people out of clay. Now, for the heavy spoiler part about the jewels behind her. Based from the folk religion around the time of Qing dynasty, the world right before human was in chaos because the earth, sea, and sky wouldn’t fully connect (It was caused by two gods wrestling, but it seems that the story of Monkie Kid differs). Nuwa then decided to forged 5 stone jewels but stitched the world neatly together, calming the earth, sea, and sky. From this set, I would guess that the Monkie Kid Gang would possibly try to collect these 5 stones to undo Azure Lion’s mess. They would probably encounters Li Jing at some point, I’d say quite early, who wants to be the new Jade Emperor. He would trapped the team inside because no one, and I mean no one, in heaven likes Sun Wukong at all. The team then escaped but two demons, Hundred-eyed Demon and Nine-headed demon, will escape as well, leading to more chaos that Monkie Kid would gloriously defeat at the end. Hopes this helps to expand the gigantic, and albeit messy, Chinese mythology!

As for more tidbits from the set itself, the two paintings possibly depict: 1. Sun Wukong’s rebel against heaven. 2. The Four Cardinal Direction Gods. Another fun fact is that the goddess Nuwa is usually represented in a serpentine manner, and that’s because her name means “Goddess of Spiral” In this case, like this 🌀. So she is associated with flow, currents and compass, thus the connection to the four cardinal gods. She also has a brother, Fuxi, who co-created humanity as well as music and other fanciful human activities. Li Jing also has two other sons besides from Nezha, so I’m very interested to see if the extended family of heaven would be depicted in the show. (Nezha is the favorite son of most classic literatures however, seeing as he usually gets the most description and involvement in story like Journey to the West.

He thought that despite his son sacrificing himself to save his family from the Dragon Kings (who were evil back then for some reason) Li Jing destroyed the temple his wife built for their son so he wouldn’t resurrect himself. He thought he was better off dead just because he was a kid who wouldn’t listen (which is normal for childhood adolescence)

Hey Mind. Just wanted to let you know that after I quick bricklink search, I found that brown fence piece. According to the website, the 1 x 4 x2 ornamental with 4 studs has been around since 2015 and has appeared in 70 sets, 4 of which (excluding this new set) have it in reddish brown.

Beautiful set! I just noticed on the second step up on the staircase, there’s an odd-looking placement of the masonry brick that isn’t repeated elsewhere in the staircase. Strange… is there a reason for that?

What about Anakin who turned into Darth Vader, Lloyd’s when Garmadon was bitten by the Devourer, Vania’s when Vangellis was the Skull Sorcerer, or Clay from Nexo Knights when he realized he was Ruinna Stonehart’s son. The same kind of thing could happen to NeZha having an evil father. That’s just what I think.

my theory is that The Hundred Eyed Demon had his eyes ripped out and placed around the pagoda as trophies of his defeat, hence why his minifigure doesn't have 100 eyes

This looks really, really good, but I really don't like the blue and violet.. I would have preferred they would have just used dark blue instead of the the light plus the dark tones. And using brown instead of violet could maybe work, since there are already so many parts that are supposed to be in wood.

Great set. You should hunt down the original Japanese (English dubbed) Monkey (aka Monkey Magic) live action TV show from the 1980s to give a greater insight into what Monkie Kid is about. It’s immensely entertaining and full of laughs (some intentional, others not).

In a wave of rather overpriced sets, this set seems very reasonable for $150. To get anything this tall and grand for under $200 is almost unheard of in 2024. There’s so many intricacies throughout, with a solid interior. I love the baby blue roof especially. And Nüwa might be my favorite minifigure of all time. That spring green color is so pretty. It works well with the turquoise and gold.
