Together they sound so amazingly metal. I have a mini-rectifier that I have hooked to them in parallel and it just grinds and chugs like something from the netherworld. Slap a tube screamer in front and you need nothing else. The G12t gives the recto more high end than the V30 can deliver, which balances the sound out quite nicely.

I'm amazed by the clean sounds. Never cared for V30s for gain. I used to have a Marshall 4x12 and used the stock 75s with a 50 watt Jubilee for medium gain and replaced the other two stock speakers with two EVM12Ls with my 67 Bassman for clean to slight gain. Too bad I didn't try the 75s with the Bassman. Now I prefer the higher power G12H with my Dr Z Route 66. I use an Avatar 1x12 and it sounds great. All pedals for gain. Nice vid!

There is no better or worse, there are differences. These speakers sound even extremely different if sitting in an open back or closed cabinet. The cabinet size matters too. Also, the material of the cab makes a huge difference. Finally the amp is a factor too. This is my personal experience having tested a wide variety of Celestion speakers with various cans and amps.

I generally lean towards the older ones but I guess it depends how good the condition of the older one is... It is louder but I think most people generally don't notice that, especially when playing in a band situation, you must have good ears. Thanks for watching.
@voa.aquino3 ай бұрын
@@ZillaCabs I think the perception of 'louder' is because the V30 has a slight peak in the mid frequencies, and our ears are very sensitive to these frequencies. The T75 is more 'scooped'; it seems less aggressive in the mids but has a slight peak in the mid-highs (which I love, but people hate and call it 'sizzle').

My Fullstack has 4 of both in an X-Pattern and I couldn´t be happier. They fill the holes each have with the others. Still on vacation. But never the less I can recognize both of them always. I still have 1960B with very old G12T75. It is not harsh at all. It actually sounds sort of like bit less compressed less speaker breakup brother of the original Greenback. Or maybe slightly handicapped cousin of the pre Rola Greenbacks 😂 Clean it it wonderful. Dirty it loses some top end but gets those Marshall with Celestion middle range. Real rock speaker. Though cabinet is from 1971 and that helps as well. Basically G12T75 can behave as some Alnico speakers. Chimey on clean and midd focused on dirt. It works surprisingly good with really good amplifiers. Though it requires not cue amplifier to sound good as well. With some amplifiers it can sound bit dull. I have to admit I wanted to change them in my 4x12 in the beginning but luckily I have tried it with another amplifier and I have let them be. Nowadays Celestion has even better and more balanced ceramic magnet speakers and I like more Creamback H and Hempback than G12T75. New and not broken in G12T75 can be really harsh. Especially with some amplifiers. I am out of love for V30, sorry. Sure it might be good for some amplifiers and some genres of music (mainly high gain stuff) but its projection and top end is irritating me. I still do not understand how Badcat was using them in some of their combos while making real hardwired work of art amplifiers. Friend was changing tubes and stuff in his Badcat looking of better sound. After he got the Hempback he couldn’t believe the difference. He plays Strat and clean and edge of the breakup. All he didn’t like was gone. I have to admit I have told him to take the Hempback. His V30 collects dust now. He wanted to gift it to me but two V30’s that I already own is one to many 😂 OK OK V30 can really improve some amplifiers that miss the top end. Also at high power they can really cut true the mix. But they are hard on boutique amplifiers. Tone end gets too much and distorted. Middle gets some unneeded honk. Simply it is not ideal combination.

Yes, the Celestion G12T-75 is wonderful for clean sounds - but, that is all it is good for in my opinion.
@NINEWALKING3 ай бұрын
@PlatinumBlack90038 it all about what is good to each of us. Some people do not like it clean either, and I get it. Luckily, Celestion has tons of models, plus the bother brands are also there. There are plenty of choices that can satisfy each of us. Mine are really old 1995 or might even be 1985. I do not recall. The first owner played a lot. Cabinet is Marshall 1960B from 1970. Cabinet looks like it was owned by some rock star. I have never heard another set of G12T75's that are as smooth as my set. Though my JTM45 is connected to it, and it is clean or edge if the breakup setup. Though I almost never play either of it. It serves as a test speaker for my amplifiers. I have like 3x 2x12, 3x 1x12, 1x15, 4x12 and 6 combos as test setup. In almost all cabinets, I have different speakers. So when I am fine-tuning a new prototype, at one moment, I try it on many different speakers to confirm that it is not sounding bad on some speakers and find put what is a best speaker and cabinet for it.

I have a late 80s Marshall 1960A cab with T75s. It sounds great for riffing certain styles. Can be a bit harsh when playing lead though. It's not a bad all rounder. I just bought an old Marshall Mode Four straight cab for fairly cheap and free shipping. I figure I can rework it to look like an oversize Greenback cab or whatever, as it needs the grill cloth replaced. But then I read about the MF30 Vintage speakers in it. They are a variant of V30 like the Marshall Vintage, or Mesa etc. Some folks seem to like them. I will not get my hopes up, but I may have just got four good sounding V30s for naff all. I am thinking the harsher sounding speakers should go in the bottom cab and warmer ones in the top cab, so the latter is not impaling the ear drums. P.S. I was a lad during the 1980s. Milton Keynes, UK, but NZ these days. I wanted a full stack for decades, but somehow only ever had a half stack. Now I have one. I no longer jam, but one reason for putting one together is for the nephew to experience the thump and roar etc. In some ways he's overtaking me at guitar (he can do all that tricky nu-metal riffing). I also just finally got around to getting an Explorer. I have to start building my horde to take to guitar Valhalla :P

Will there every be Jensen speakers featured in your videos?
@ZillaCabs3 ай бұрын
You mean on the channel? We have three Jensens here, two 10 and a 12 which they kindly sent out. The trouble is we will have to make a stand alone video for them as the 12 is quite a specific sound so can't really be used in a video like this unless we are focussing on vintage sounds. The other thing is we spend quite a lot of time and money on these videos and they largely just promote the speakers rather than what we do, so on top of the time and expense we generally aren't to keen on having to buy a load of speakers at full price, you know what I mean. We've got stuff from other brands coming up too though.

I think marshall makes a mistake using that speaker in its marshall cabs. The resulting marshall cab plus head is often way too fizzy for what I think is the classic marshall sound. I've pulled my 75s out and replaced them with greenbacks. Of course the downside is that I now have to play through a full stack instead of a half stack to get the power rating I want. :)

Ive always liked these 2 speakers, but it's funny, because out of almost all the speakers I've ever blended, I always felt like these two sound a bit weird together. Anyone else know what I mean? Like obviously they work, but I've even tried with multiple different V30's/T-75's, in a 2x12, and a 4x12, and I never like it. I cant really explain exactly what, or why, but it just always sounds weird to me, almost like I feel like I'm having phase issues or something hah. I've never mentioned it to anyone before, but always wondered if it was just me hah. So I'm curious to hear if anyone else feels this way, or what others think about this blend. Obviously different speakers even of the same model can sound quite different, so you never know, but Ive tried four different 75's(two older white labels non vented, and two newer white/black labels), and I have six V30's all made in UK, an no matter what combination I use, they always sound weird to me hah.

It funny that as generally I think they are thought of as mixing quite well together, but that's what is good about speakers, there's something for everyone, there's no rights or wrongs.

@@ZillaCabs Oh okay, interesting. Good to know. Yeah 100% agree, and I often find something I like about most blends I do, but for some reason with the 75’s and V30’s I have, I just could never get on well with this blend, and I even rotated through all the ones I have, and tried different combinations, but I always think it sounds weird lol. I definitely agree though, I’m not saying it’s a bad blend per say, and there’s def no right or wrong for the most part. It could totally be partly just the cabs I’m using, and the way my particular 75’s, and V30’s sound too. I’ve only tried it in my two Mesa Cabs, so maybe I’ll revisit it in my 800 Cab, or my Framus.

@ZillaCabs3 ай бұрын
Yeah I have experienced that too. In blind tests the T75 performs really well, especially for cleaner and lower gain styles. It's nice to hear people giving a bit more love for the T75

Veeeey easy, V30 is impossible to not get spotted, no deep bass and upper treble and the strongest fundamental midrange you can ever imagine on your wet lead guitar dreams, Vintage 30 didn’t born to be alone and less in an open cab, can be the best companion for your favorite single speaker specially live imho, T75 best single, V30 great combo with T75, great demo as always the best speakers comparison and shootouts!
@iwiggs68703 ай бұрын
Sounded pretty great clean, but generally the issue with T75s is that "rattle" will ALWAYS be present in the mix. Plus, the midrange isn't terribly authorative and can easily be absorbed by any other instrument getting near the mix. Which means...sometimes the only thing that you hear in a mix when using a T75 is that bright, fizzy rattle.

Just never could get along with the T75's. Dull but ice-picky at the same time. I did mix them with two V30's, but you could barely even hear the T75's (100dB's for the V30's vs. 97's for the T75's.) THEN I got a couple of H75 Creambacks, and the world suddenly became a much better place to live in. All 4 are bright speakers, but you simply turn your treble down. After you do that? Perfection. They're 100dB's like the V30's, so you can HEAR them. They balance out perfectly, and the mids between the two of them are just fantastic...

The efficiency of the T75 is around 83db, the V30 around 98db so the V30 is massively louder. Though sonically complementary they will never be a balanced combination in a cab,- the V30 will always overpower the T75. Personally I liked the T75 since it´s heyday in the 80s´ 1960 Marshall cabs,- more top and bottom end than the V30. The V30 has a distinct upper midrange lift ala the Greenback,- only shifted downwards in frequency too achieve the same character a treblebooster going into a preamp of an amp would have but across a lower frequency spectrum. This is why they work so well for downtuned extended range guitar sounds in 4x12 cabs for metal,- NOT because they have more bottom end than the T75,- they don´t! Learn how to read charts, don´t go by anecdotal evidence and bro science,- it´s the hallmarks of a delusional dilletant amateur. Forget what speakers are called,- when combining speakers go for complementary eq-characteristics, fairly equal power ratings and fairly equal efficiency ratings,- then you have a fair chance of setting up a well functioning sonically pleasing even volume giving combination.
