I think the most important aspects of his videos are the EQ graphs in real time. It helps me understand what I am listening to and what I am looking for. Thx man!

Quite an interesting one. I think I like it more than the V30 here, at least close mic. In the room it might be a bit harsh. The differences seem pretty complex to describe, imo. It's fuller, but not in a honky 1khz area type of way. It's brighter, very bright even, but has pretty much no fizz. I'd almost say it seems more scooped - but really it isn't, somehow. I like it. Open but not scooped, not honky but full enough, bright but not fizzy. Thank you very much for providing IRs too!

I tried the IR in my Demofx Be-ODx Plus -->M-Wave IR Box, for some reason TAD 30 sound reference sounds fanastic while TAD 30 and V30 IR's sound too scooped. Nonetheless fantastic and balanced IR

Sounds awesome, I’m already a huge fan of the g12h 70th though, so I’m not shocked by that. Probably am dating myself a bit here but the two sound very similar in the general profile, but the v30 sounds like it’s being broadcast on AM and the g12h TAD sounds like switching over to FM. The v30 is congested sounding by comparison. Confounded by the comments I’m reading about the g12h TAD sounding “darker” when it clearly has more highs and high mids both audibly and visually on the graph below 10k.

I get what you mean. To me it sounds very balanced and clear. A very pleasant, well rounded speaker

@@asymmetrymedia9838 I guess it comes off a little more subdued. Which to me translates as darker.

@@BradRocker Oh i prefer the v30 by far here, but exactly because it's darker and smoother tone than the TAD
@asymmetrymedia98388 сағат бұрын
Personally don't like it for distorted sounds. It kind of has those wimpy and harsh upper mid i'd expect of a bad v30. Adds a lot of atonal noise to the sound. The v30 has a better and fuller midrange and less frequencies that need cutting in the upper mids and highs.

I'd give the win to the Vintage 30, but that doesn't mean the Tad speaker couldn't win with a different amp or an amp with different setup tubes in it. I believe that amps are 90% tube selection anyway. I've done a ton of swapping tubes in and out to know that I can change my Coreblade's sound character quite a bit by doing so.
@TheOtherJohnBrowne9 сағат бұрын
Testing tubes and their tonal effects was on the do list for 2024 but I did not get around to it. 2025 hopefully
@torchlord118 сағат бұрын
@@TheOtherJohnBrowne I found that speakers that don't produce a wide range of frequencies don't give a good representation of the different character tubes that can provide the overall sound. I think this is because if the speaker has limited high-end frequencies and limited mid-range you're not going to notice the difference in tubes. I also noticed that brands made at different factories will provide the biggest differences. One other thing I think would be interesting to see would be putting the same tubes taken out of one amp and put in another amp to see how it changes the sound when using the same cab and guitar.
